| September 22, 2008 | Comments (49)

It’s almost that time of the year again, as in the release for Doernbecher Charity Freestyle Collection. 2008 marks the 5th year for Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Collection. The unveiling of the 2008 shoes was held at Wieden + Kennedy this past Saturday, September 20th. Tony Taylor Jr. (16 years old) was one of this kids selected to design a pair of shoes, and he used the Air Jordan 1 High as his canvas. Tony’s nickname is “Mr. Boober” and that is seen on the tongue of the AJ1′s. Like all the other designers, Tony is a former patient from the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. He had a kidney transplant at the Doernbecher Hospital and battled with Nephrotic Syndrom.

The 2008 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 5 Collection will release on November 14th at NikeTowns and on Nike.com. In case you didn’t know, all the proceeds from the shoes go to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. Here’s the names of the five kids selected for this year’s project; Tony Taylor Jr., Emily Giersch, Staci Wright, Brandi Berger and Colin Couch. via SoleCollector
