2008 Sneaker of the Year?
We saw some hot and not so hot sneaker releases this year, but what about the sneaker of the year? Complex says that the Supra Skytop is the Sneaker of the Year. Check out what they had to say below:

I absolutely disagree. I would call the Jordan XX3 the sneaker of the year, hands down. Second place would go to the Hyperdunks (even if I hate that damn Lunar Foam).

I love the XX3, but the Skytop turned me into a Supra head. If it’s not the sneaker of the year, I put it at number 1.5, because it doesn’t deserve the number 2 spot.

Gotta question….”Is any1 planning on camping out a whole for week for Supras?” (crickets,crickets) Nuff said. Only a Jordan head would do such a thing. Them Timberland Skytops were the only joints I wuz diggin til I saw the price tag, but they did came up in ’08.
Supra Footwear is definitely one of the hottest sneakers this year, but it isn’t “The Sneaker of the Year”. The XX3 is definitely number one. Hyperdunks second, the Supras. If I have a fourth choice I would say it would be a tie between the 6Rings and Fusions.

the 23′s probably should have gotten the first place… but, if the 23′s where 22′s(only the number, not the shoe in it self) then they hadnt deserved to win. 23 is a historical shoe because it is nr 23. not because its a great shoe.

Lol…sry I’m not on the supra band-wagon..but titanium 23′s I believe are the all around best shoe of the yr..(comfort, colorway, and material..pebbled leather was on point!!!)..carmine 6s were 2nd, atc II’s from the rebel pack and the infared 90s came close but the midsole paint peals easily :-/..

First of all, Jay-Z wasn’t wearing the gold Skytops in the Umbrella video, they were Pierre Hardy’s. Secondly, Skytops were my shoe of the year… in 2007! I bought all the first ones that came out strictly off of them being new and different and the COMFORT is unmatched! After everybody and they mamma started wearing them this year it made me not want em anymore… Although I did pick up the black Tufs when Karmaloop had them on sale for $80, I’m a sucker for a good sale.

I got only 1 pair of the 23′s and dont actually like em, and I never got the hyperdunks because I dont like the look. but I got some pairs of skytops, including the gold ones. and I like the looks and feel of them so for me thats the sneaker of the year.

We’ve had the Titanium XX3′s in the beginning of the year, and the BREDs at the end of the year. Both went well over $3,000 on ebay.
I’d say the XX3′s release, the craze and hype that went into it, the XX3′s take the title of 2008 Sneaker of the Year.

Skytops are poo the orignal Gold/Silver where ok from about year or two ago but nothing on the original samples. My favourite releases this year are in no order like:

Adidas Spezials (every colour-way released bar black/white)

ok… fusions have no business on anybody’s shoe of the year. They’re like the Soulja Boy of the shoe game, period. 2nd, i dont know if Supras should’ve gotten it, but theyre comfortable and arent bad kicks at all, especially the stash pocket. 3rd, This prolly isnt fair, but imma say the Bred 11s… yes they’ve been retro’ed 100x and i think they still shouldve dropped Spacejams but outside of the B2TF Hyperdunks and the Titanium 23s, almost no shoe out there is going online for more than these and the release wasnt even limited!

I think that the Vaiders were hotter than Skytops………. personally. Truthfully though, you ain’t see people standing in line for weeks to cop the latest pair of Supra’s. XX3 walks away with the crown.

Noob, it’s the sneaker of the year not what your favorites of the year.
You have to think about what’s the most popular and the most demanded. And Fusions is one of the most demanded sneakers of 2008, and that’s a fact. I personally hate Fusions myself.
He’s why the skytop is the sneaker of the year…The Gold skytops, not the orginal gold and silver joints that yes Jay Z rocked in umbrella (Jmorre your dead wrong youtube it), kinda set off a tidal wave eventhough they were actually released in Decemeber of 2007…Since that point Supra and its Skytop has created a new brand without any offical endorsement….I mean seriously where would the XX3 (which I agree 1000% should share the 1st spot just because of the legacy behind it) be with out MJ..Nike is a marketing machine that creates hype…There is a reason why people go crazy for Nike releases and 2 out 5 its not always because of how fresh the kicks are (hence the 6rings)..Supra doesn’t have commericals, its not in your favorite mall (except Zumiez), doesn’t have “paid” celebrity endorsement..but seems to just keep poping up everywhere…Its really hard to fight this brand thats been around for a minute, but just kinda blew up not because of marketing but because there ideas were kinda fresh…Now lets see whats happens in 09…
