Interview With adidas CEO Herbert Hainer

Honestly, I know a lot of you could care less what Herbert Hainer, CEO of adidas has to say. It’s not just a adidas/Reebok issue, the same would apply if this was the CEO of Nike, Jordan Brand, Asics, Puma, New Balance, etc. It all boils down to the fact that people don’t like to read and the interview does not reveal pictures of upcoming sneakers. Of course we know that’s not the case with everyone, which is why we post valuable and informative interviews like this. While we are aware that the majority of readers don’t care about the shoe biz as a whole, we have noticed that some of you appreciate this type of information. Seriously, I could type for days about how brainwashed everyone has become, and how close-minded the sneaker culture is, but that’s for another day.
Now let’s focus on the Herbert Hainer interview. FN recently spoke to Hainer about a number of topics, including the future growth for adidas and Reebok, the rising of materials cost, keeping the supply chain in check, and more. The interview is definitely worth your time, so check it out.

the Q&A was interesting. I deff feel that ther ’04 campaign was lackluster. I only remember the “impossible is nothing” commercials.
Salute to The Shoe Game for covering this. You guys know at OSD it’s all about the business for us. Great to see articles like this catching on. WALK GOOD!
I loved the “impossible is nothing” campaign but felt that it was way too above most people’s heads. It was heartfelt, and very open and honest. Especially when Messi spoke about being too short to play, or Arenas wearing #0. This new “All Adidas” campaign seems like it will be more popular, but it won’t really connect with me. I just think using celebrities makes them look phoney.
.
If theres one thing I hate is hearing: “re-engineer.” That means lowering their quality past was it is right now, and even trying to convince the consumer that less material on a sneaker means more performance.
Unfortunately most people are only concerned about sneakers and begging for retros, maybe if some of the sneakerheads took time to read these articles and see the direction that shoe companies are moving in and the innovative ideas then maybe we would all be better appreciative of the stuff that is coming out these days. The current
“All in” Adidas marketing campaign is pure genius and really drives home to the consumers. Good post TSG, this is why I return to your website daily…
“Honestly, I know a lot of you could care less what Herbert Hainer, CEO of adidas has to say. ”
.
Just a little pet peeve of mine, but it annoys me to when I see “could care less” when people mean “couldn’t care less.” Lol, sorry, this has nothing to do with the article but just felt like throwing that out G.
.
“HH: It’s definitely a challenge. When you see the input prices and, to a certain extent, labor costs, this is something we haven’t experienced at this magnitude. Cotton has doubled in the last 12 months, and polyester, rubber, oil, everything went up. And obviously, we want to protect our margin and our profit to give what we can to the shareholders”
.
Good to hear that information, something most people will probably never know due to not reading but just shows we can’t complain about things when we don’t know the facts.
At this point, I couldn’t care less about the average day to day re-re-retro news to be honest….it’s stuff like this that interests me, especially when you’ve got other like-minded people around that are smart enough to discuss it. Adidas was the first brand I really went crazy “collecting” and they’re still my overall favorite so this was a great post IMO…….
keep posting this stuff G-Roc, TSG has a responsibility to cover the ENTIRE shoe game!
great article. i give props to whoever forking out the $100 for the yearly subsciption to women’s wear daily. i want to but i spend all my money on sneakers.
~
of course i pledge (or rush) NIKE, but i am starting to respect the 3 stripes, INC. a lot more. maybe i should talk to the store manager that keeps trying to recruit me, but i’m trying to get out of retail.

the nail was hit on the head with sneakerheads not caring. this is the reason why it seems that these companies are not progressing. too much is put on retros. i’m still looking for the perfect ‘future retro’.
