On Thursday I spent the entire day with adidas Running in Portland, Oregon.
The adidas Running team started the new year off by giving back to Portland’s running community. With me being a runner, and TSG being a long-time supporter of Boost – it was only right that I was on hand to document the good vibes and great energy.
#WhyIRunPortland was the name of the activation on Thursday. The objective was simple: bless Portland runners with free adidas running shoes. That’s it! People who received new shoes also had the opportunity to donate their old running shoes to charity.
It was a very cold day, but seeing all the happy faces made the experience worth every minute.
Here’s a full breakdown of how the day went.
Why I Run Portland
7:00am-8:30am (Mt Tabor)
The first location on the list was Mt Tabor. adidas Running teased the location via their Facebook page and when we arrived there were 50+ people waiting.
This lady was trying to decide if she should roll with Ultra Boost or Alpha Bounce. I tried my best to explain the difference between Boost and Bounce.
Nothing but smiles in the freezing cold!
As I mentioned before, runners had the option to donate their old shoes.
The local news was on hand to tell Portland residents about #WhyIRunPortland.
9:00am-10:30am (Eastbank Esplanade)
After a successful turn out at Mt Tabor, it was time to swing by Eastbank Esplanade for round 2!
I had the funniest video with this guy from New York. My phone was being difficult and kept powering off in the middle of me documenting. Just know it was hilarious! And in case you’re wondering, yes, that’s Triple White 3.0! adidas showed crazy love for #WhyIRunPortland.
11:00am-12:15pm (Lunch Break)
Eastbank Esplanade was a success, and although it was still cold – it wasn’t as cold as Mt Tabor. The adidas Running team and I took a break to go re-up on more shoes and grab lunch.
I definitely want to shout out Ronnie Fieg for sending me a pair of the Kith Ultra Boost. The shoe kept my feet extra warm and cozy the entire day. Of course comfort wasn’t an issue because of Boost. I can honestly say to anyone that was on the fence about the Kith Ultra Boost, you will have a greater appreciation once you try on the shoe. Trust me!
