Big Boi talks Space Jams Jordans (Video)
After watching this video I see how this all went down. I’m not saying it’s ok, but Big Boi said his “Space Jam” Jordans had been sitting in the closet for 8 years. Hmmm, subtract 8 from 2009. That’s when we first started to see what everyone thought was “exclusive” Air Jordan colorways hit the scene. Remember the XI’s Fabolous was rocking in Lil Bow Wow’s “Basketball” video for the Like Mike movie? That was also around the same time, 2001/2002.
Someone should have put Big Boi on game by now, but they didn’t. Hopefully he knows now. In this video Mr. Patton talks to Vimby about his shoe game and the J’s he wore to Sneaker Pimps ATL.

At the end of the day, Big Boi is still one of the coolest dudes in it. He wore some fake shoes because he isn’t on sneakers like that. He has a lot of money therefore he has a lot of sneakers, but having a lot of sneakers doesn’t make you a sneaker head. Big Boi loses no respect from me, his music is still the Grade A. 30 million sold period.

Ben pretty much nailed it. As was already said by DJCK and others, a dude wearing knockoffs either doesn’t know, or doesn’t care. All signs point to Big Boi just not being aware. He’s a guy who likes kicks, but isn’t really into sneaker culture and its history, or the community. And here’s a pre-emptive response to the person who will inevitably read this comment and think I’m saying Big Boi should get a pass, or that I somehow condone wearing knockoffs: You’re wrong. Say No To Fakes.
But at the end of the day, this doesn’t detract from Sir Luscious being one of the greatest to ever pick up a mic.

Sir Lusciuos Left Foot is a nice MC, but in no way do I support his “Space Jam Neo-Retro Olympic Looking” Jordan 8′s. Sidenote, if you think these 8′s are bad, then go get your Speakerboxxx/The Love Below cd (I know you have it cause it’s certified over 10 million sold) and check out the J’s he’s wearing in the booklet. I can understand the fact that he didn’t realize they were fake if he isn’t into sneaks like everybody else at the joint, but I refuse to believe that no one could have put a bug in his ear prior to or after the show, especially a sneaker event. I read the article yesterday on NiceKicks, and I still think Big Boi could have been informed some kind of way. I’m not buying that “we didn’t have a chance to tell him stuff”, no disrespect to Street or Kent. And then to put them shits on blast like he knows they legit??!!?? But all this goes to show you that some people, money or not, are only interested in the name…fake Jordans are rampant where I’m at, but because it says Jordan people doodoo on themselves to get ‘em, and then walk around looking like a dummy while they’re feet turn green.

My take is, if we’re gonna blast a regular joe, then we gotta blast him. He is one of my favorite rappers, but we are not talking about rapping. We blast everybody else for not wearing real sneakers and we blast dudes for making videos about wearing fake kicks, so why should we let anybody pass? If you can afford the real kicks, then buy the real kicks. If your a rapper and have mills, then there is no excuse for you, your stylist, anybody in your crew to be near fake kicks. These stylist don’t go to the flea market or barbershop to buy clothes for their clients. They go straight to the respected stores or manufacturer their self to get supplies. To top it off, I am 1000% sure that the shoes he had on was a fake colorway they made back in 2001/2002. I know because I bought the same ones thinking they were custom variants. I paid $200 for them. Later I found out variant was another word for fake. But, that was when the variants were still high priced, now you know for sure what your getting.
