Complete Technique x Nike Snowboarding – “American Eagle” Zoom Force 1

With all the talk of the Nike Air Mag being futuristic, it’s safe to say that Osamu Koyama, designer of jewelry brand Complete Technique, definently should be mentioned when it comes to futuristic. Creating a silhoutte for his participation in Shoeshine Project 2012, Koyama created and encrusted the ZF-1 snowboard boot from Nike Snowboarding dubbed the “American Eagle.”

At first glance one may thing knights’ armor or something of the like, but the inspiration for the “American Eagle” actually stems from Japanese anime Saint Seiya along with manga Berserk. For those actually familiar with either the manga or anime, or even look up either, it’s easy to see the similarities between those and the “American Eagle.”

The mold is over the Zoom Force 1 and even features a opal pendant on the tongue front of the boot. Just adds to the flavor of the whole theme and is very interesting to say the least.

Seeing an artist work on a project like this, it’s always interesting to see what the outcome will be. Instead of taking the conservative route, great to see Koyama use his own memories and things he enjoys to finish a project like this.

May not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s always a breath of fresh air to have a designer take the reins of a project and do everything they can to cater to their liking and make it stand out.
