Confessions of a Sneaker Addict
Everyone who collects sneakers or just has a desire to always have the latest kicks knows about multiple trends that are evident among the sneaker culture.
Whether they are the hotness or the wackness is up for debate but what is reality is the fact that they are apparent among many people today whether it be the casuals, the shoe collectors, the heat rockers, the celebrities, the kids, the adults, just about anyone you can think of. Now, without any further ado, does the following confession apply to you?
Doubling up.
You walk in a shoe store, take a look around, and…
BAM!
That shoe you have been drooling about for weeks sits there on the shelf. You ask for your size and try it on, results? Exactly what you dreamed of, perfect fit, ballin look, and the price is where you wanted it. The employee asks, “Would you like to purchase them?” You reply, “Yes. I’ll take two pairs.” Then they rant about how socks are half off, shirts are on sale, and they have a new membership where you get deals that really are not really that amazing.
You walk out feeling like a mission has been successful. You grabbed the sneaker you were looking for, got two pairs, but now for the question. What impulse caused you to grab two pairs of the same shoe? Do you take the route of one to rock, one to stock? Or do you not even double up and just buy one pair and call it a day?

What’s goody TSG? dope topic first & foremost. I’ve double up in past and will again all depends on the sneaker. I LOVE SNEAKERS YA HEARD. If the price is right most def coppin two pair early. For instance if it’s a pair I never had it’s a good chance I’ll copp two maybe not right on the spot it all depends on how I’m feeling that day and the sneaker on deck. Fact of the matter is there are alot of “SNEAKERS” out there so I try to be careful on tripling and quadrupling kicks don’t get me wrong I do cop & flip not all the time. Variety is the spice of life and that’s ultimately what I strive for within this sneaker realm LOL! If I could have every sneaker for free I wouldn’t want them (o.k I’m lying) I would take all the dope one’s and give the least desirable to those who unfortunate and don’t have the means to buy kicks. The point is personally I love the thrill of just going to cop new kicks nothing like it true story you no when you get that urge and just can’t resist what a feeling. “I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE I’M A ADDICT” FOR SNEAKERS THAT IS. I purchase one pair and one pair only, no matter how limited they are or how much I like them. I’m not a hog and I feel if I purchase only 1 pair that I’m allowing one of my fellow sneakerheads to get a pair as well. For example, the Space Jams. I easily could of bought 5-6 pairs, but due to their limited availability and the amount of people who wanted a pair, I felt I did quite a few people a favor by only getting one.

I also have other priorities and loves in life besides sneakers. Such as cars, which I own three of, one of which is completely custom from the ground up. I’m in the process of buying a $700K+ house too, which is far more important then sneakers. I get a kick out of these kids who have 200 sneakers but live in a box of an apartment with nowhere to put anything. They have their priorities all mixed up IMO.

I always ask myself. Would I wanna be broke and only have sneakers to show for it, or would I rather have a mix of all the things I like. (sneakers, cars, houses, other various toys, trips)…The answer is always the second option.
I only buy one pair. However, I will buy the same model of a shoe in a different colorway. I will never double up on two pair of the same shoe. If that one pair gets destroyed and I really like the shoe I will attempt to find another pair. But since I take care of my shoes a moment such as that would be few and far between.

DAMN I’m a broke college student ya’ll… even if I wanted to double up I always end up just getting something else…. If they re-release them and my current pairs jacked thats when I normally re-up sheeeeeeiit I wish I could I ain’t even gonna lie!!!

Exactly I know I’d grab two pairs of ne thing that I have just b/c I’m feelin’ them THAT much… forget the hype, although I will take two pairs of these… size 11 plz!!!
I make money and i knw how to stack it up so when a shoe comes out (
Vasity 6) even if i want it i have my doubts just becauz i like to keep my money. i pick n chose the show i would get first ( Oly 7 vs true red 9)

ok this is me sneakerhead sneakerlover sneakerfriend n its sooooo tempting to double or triple up but thats the hustler in me…to get back the money i jus spent and make a profit cuz i would want 1 to rock 1 to stash juz in case and of course 1 to hit someone in the head with later on but everybody knows this method does not work unless yur a true hybeast n ebay slayer so what to do? ask wifey to cop me a pair then turn around n ask the chia for the same pair …..this has worked for me b4 but its jus unethicle(spell check) and so i dont do this any more but hey addiction is a beautifull thing and i rock my kicks with respect n take care of them to the fullest…
im considering doubling up on the infrared 90s this month, but by the time my shoes look sort of bad a new retro is coming out to replace them. so…
I would like to do it , but then again i kind of see no point. I could use the other money to get another pair i like , and also i rock all my pair’s of sneaks…matter of fact thats my main goal. To rock all my sneakers.
To me…for the most part “doubling up” is a JOKE…it’s exactly as 4drumz said: Rock 1, and hope the other one becomes worth 3x the retail price so u can buy other kicks…Don’t front people. If it is the shoe of all shoes you’ve been waiting for then I can see doubling up…if u actually plan to rock one pair to the ground, then rock the other…But if ur one of these ppl that sits on ur kicks and jus stares at them and keeps em all on ice: you’re a FOOL, i dont respect that, straight up. It’s wack as FFFFFF. But seriously…think about how much our shoes gets worn…even if u only own 30 pairs of kicks…if u rotated them that’d be ONE wear a MONTH…and that’s if you only have 30 pairs and lets face it most ppl who double up have 100-150 or more pairs…so tell me this: How long is it really gonna be til u wear thru the first pair if ur even on a semi-rotation? If u rotated 120 pairs it’d ONE wear every 4 months…TWO YEARS to get 6 wears out of each shoe…doubling up is not my steez: I’d rather cop 2 different pairs I want than 2 of the same pair. Twice the fun that way.

If you guys wanna buy something with hopes to pull a profit off it, invest in a home, or a second one if you already have one…I’d rather make a $200,000 profit on a home then a mere $200 dollars on a pair of sneakers!! I’d have to sell a hell of a lot of sneakers to get that $200,000 haha. You can also rent that home out and pull in a nice chunk of change every month. Now that’s a hustle. A grown mans hustle!!
Usually won’t double up, unless it’s a shoe that I absolutely love and plan on wearing the crap out of both pairs to get alot of life out of that model. Black/Cement III’s, I doubled up on the retro release, and neither are DS….

i usually dont have the money to double up on. I take care of my property. ONLY shoe id double up on are the cement 4s. GRAILS

2 freshwater griffey 1s, 2 space jams, 2 motorsports 6s, 2 vred 6s, 2 lebron 7 dunkmans, 2 ajkos, 2 copper foams, 2 eggplant foams, 2 cough drop foams, 2 pacquiao sc 2010s, 2 sb skunk dunks, 2 silver anniversary xis, 2 infrared packs. just about 2 of everything except some spizikes and other jordans.
One pair is enough for me, 2 pairs is just being greedy…just saying…
I have never bought doubles for what? I got to many Kicks as it is Im still tryin to UN DS stuff…
I only get one pair 1 too much for two they cost more than originals did 2. I clean all my shoes well and take good pair of them 3. I keep the heat in the closet except for special occasions to protect my investments

For me personally It’s all about how much I like the shoe..LIke the do the right thing 3′s I got 2 the same day….Clear air force lows (Invisable Woman) I got 2 the same day.. The Flint 7′s I got 2 but got a little discount… It’s also about rocking them now..but knowing yearssss down the road i have a pair on deck for when people forget about them and you bring them out..
Also I think it’s if you like a shoe your gonna cop a pair…But you don’t like it enough to get 2 pairs…But you go back to finishline or footlocker and they dropped the price and you have a 20$ off purchase of 100$ or more..So you can get a pair of j’s you like for 80$..Can you really pass that up??
The jordan 2′s they retro’d 2 months ago(??).. I had them back in the day from 05 (i believe) and i mean they have smaller differences but I got them because my old ones are kinda beat up and creased so it was a chance to Re Clean them and give them back to life just had to pay for it.
So I think its all about how much you really like the shoe,the price you can get them for,the hype around them,how you are looking at it in the future,If you have money or don’t,You wished you didn’t mess up your last pair but bam theres a fresh brand new pair for you..And it might be how well you maintain your KICKS

I have never doubled up on a pair of shoes I’m averaging at least 5 a month for the last 2 years. Rock/Stock don’t matter to me i got so many new shoes in rotation i practically forget about the old ones. Every once in a blue moon i’ll bust out some old heat and all you can see is eyes and drool lol
Doubled up on Space Jams, the Structure Triax 91 OG colorway, black/cement IIIs, chlorophyl trainers, and the air force II highs in the browned green colorway. Oh and the pimento wildwoods-love those. Do it if you feel that way about ‘em cuz it might be a hot minute before you see ‘em again.
IF YOU LIKE THE SHOE A LOT, BUY TWO PAIR. ONE TO PALM, SNIFF, AND HANDLE WITH CLEAN HANDS. THE OTHER TO TAKE UP SPACE IN YOUR HOME AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT.
Well as a struggling student I would probably just copp one pair… to rock of course… HOWEVER, if I had the fundage to be able to copp 2 pairs than I would. I’d copp one to rock like next day & one to stock so I could keep it FRESH… til I rock those ones too lol…
