Curren$y Switched It Up With His Shoe Game

Nice to see something different.

We are all used to seeing rappers wear Jordans, but every now and then they switch it up.

Migos recently flexed in the new Balenciaga Triple S sneaker, and Curren$y pulled out a pair of Bapes. It’s funny that it’s odd to see celebs wearing Bapes because it was so common back in 2006-2007.

Fast forward to 2017 and now seeing celebs in Bapes is a big deal (not really). Oh how times change.

And it wouldn’t be Spitta if he wasn’t doing his favorite thing in the world. Ha!

Have you ever owned a pair of Bapes?

I have, 2 pairs actually. A funny story, back around the timeframe you mentioned a popular store in Massachusetts (I won’t say the name) never stocked Bape and when I asked why I was told they couldn’t sell that to their customers. Fast forward to 2017 and they stock everything Bape. To add to this story I ended up getting a pair in New York from Alife Rivington Club.

  • Sounds about right. If I’m not mistaken, Bapes were only sold at Bape stores back then but now they have a handful of accounts like Undefeated, etc.

I ALMOST copped a pair at the Bape store in NYC 2005-2006. I used to cover new Bapes heavy on this site back in 2006/2007 but then the interested died down… like Supra.

But now people are starting to rock pairs again. Maybe Supra will have another successful run. lol

I think some of the top stores could’ve got accounts but because it was at the time considered by most a knock off AF1 they stayed away.

I went in the Bape Store once and I straight up felt intimidated to even touch anything let alone buy something from there.

If Supra’s come back man I would be shocked but with the right collab or celebrity endorsement you never know I guess.

  • I have never been a fan of em

Nahh, not these ones. I want messin with an AF-1 knock-off.

I feel you man I actually had the ones pictured and because AF1’s weren’t realeasing stuff like this I had to do it. Plus the leather quality was A1.

  • Ray.

I almost bought a pair like 5 years before they blew up!
I was shopping for stuff online and just came across a pair on ebay.
They were blue with a white “swoosh” and white midsole/outsole. All leather. No patent leather.. I saw them and just stopped. I was like “YO! THESE ARE HOT!”
The only reason I didnt buy em was bc i wasnt tryina get laughed at for having some fugazi AF1s…smh
And they were just $125, even tho it wasn’t “just” $125 back then lol

I never did buy a pair because of the price, however I was very close to pulling the trigger on a hoodie Nigo had worn for a magazine cover for around $300 from a japanese website. Thank god that phase didn’t last long for me. The closest I ever came to Bape was some ice creams with beepers. I mostly bought them because price was reasonable and the shoe box was clean.

Cosign. A knockoff/ripoff will never do much for me. Same goes for A company like Hender Scheme.

Nothing news. Curren$Y been on them heavy for years and years. “They say it’s outta style, I bring that ish back”.

I have a pair of Ultra Skull Stas I love them. They are worn to death. They have fat laces and the leather on the inside is pealing. I wore them to the Yeezus concert and boy did my feet hurt.
