DJ Clark Kent Interview
NHTVSN recently interviewed the AF1 King himself “DJ Clark Kent”. Surely you’ve heard of Clark Kent before, especially if you’re into AF1’s or own any sneaker from the 112 Pack. Check out this interview as Clark talks sneakers, hip-hop, and more. It’s definitely worth your time, so watch it now. In case you don’t know he is DEEP in the game, and boy do we mean deep! Peep one of his recent comments (yes, he’s a TSG reader) below from the Fat Joe interview:

Nice interview, I agree with what he said about Pac. But I don’t think Hov is the best rapper of all time and definitely not the best lyricist of all-time. But he is Clark Kent so….
ALL DAY!

rock on wit da realness homie!!!
TSG is so ‘UNFUCKWITABLE’!!!
I co-sign this whole interview… That industry shit at the end was so on point. Video’s have f’ked the rap game up. It’s all hype now a days. I remember when I was in high school, I was one of maybe 10 people that rapped in the entire school. Now, everybody rap. And 90% of the people that tell me they rap are trash!!! That’s why I DJ, make beats, write songs, mix and so on, so I could be more than just a rapper. I’ve seen artist go from grind to deal. I watched Mystikal, Juvenile & Mannie Fresh all go from the hood to millionaires. I remember being a little kid in elementary school running around the studios rapping their lyrics. I’m talking Mystikal with Big Boy Records, Juvenile before Warlock Records, Mannie Fresh when it was Gregory D and DJ Mannie Fresh. A lot of up and coming artist what the money right away. That money might take a while to come, if in fact it does come. A lot of artist that did have hits are still broke. The rap game from the early 90’s to now is all make believe. But, artist on that 100% real shit can’t sell albums. Sorry for the long post, this is a subject that I am very involved with.
real shit
Everyone needs to quit d**k riding…#1 forces are wack. #2 Hip Hop is dead because WE killed it. Hip hop is going through what rock went through in the 80’s. Hip hop is now GLAM. We need the hip hop version of Nirvana. #3 Baggy tees and camo shorts are NOT FRESH…since when did that become the street wear uniform??? BAAHHH SHEEP BAHHH
DJ Clark Kent isa pretty cool dude
i have a new found respect for CK.
Thats one real ass dude
Great interview…..dude was spittin’ nothing but the truth….
^^cintownmac how is Hip Hop dead?? How many countries you been to on this planet?…trust me homeboy, maybe wherever you’re from it looks that way, but Hip Hop’s bigger than what you see on 106 & Park everyday….Come to Asia, or go to Europe, and you’ll see first hand….The new Hipster/Hypebeast Rap, yeah, that shit’s getting played already, but like Clark said, RAP’S JUST ONE FACET OF HIP HOP…..Hip Hop’s a GLOBAL CULTURE……AND FAR FROM DEAD.
Just my opinion……
yoooo man, KENT MA DUDE, LOL i feel STUUUPID cause i didnt know that was ACTUALLY HIM, and speaking of propositions tokyo mike i will send u a shoe for a PICTURE OF THESE GIRLS U SPEAK OF, i have SEEN ONE JAPANESE GIRL IN TORONTO, THATS IT, ITS ALWAYS CHINESE OR KOREAN DOWN HERE
i like this dude
I hope DJ Clark Kent reads THIS COMMENT IN PARTICULAR, pretty heart felt…. I have so MUCH respect for this cat Clark Kent, its pretty cool to see him around the city. Personally i dont admire you for you’re sneakers. Your talent in music is amazing. My FAVORITE SONG EVER is ” Jayz – I cant get it that” 1993 correct me if im wrong? But Clark produced that song and its just INCREDIBLE. My fav rapper jayz just RIPPED IT. Clark Kent captured the essence of music in that time with that beat, it was just incredible. I literally wanted to tell you in person and shake your hand honorably. I was going to text it to you but i felt it was a bit outta line. But MUCH RESPECT Clark Kent. From a real hip hop head, your an icon to me. Next time i see you, i would be glad to approach you and tell you in person. I feel people like you dont get appreciated for making true hip hop when you have pple like Dr.Dre in the public eye 24/7. Yea he’s coool but Clark is the man.
okay that comment was even before watching the video. I saw the video and clark just spit some real stuff man. i feel the same WAY ABOUT TUPAC. That dude is ultra commercial and i didnt dig his messages.. “i get around” then put out “brenda’s gota baby” No Way homie im not buying it, Jay and Big were so to the point and gutter being from NY you cant help but to love it. Im personally from the Bronx, Gun hill and Wht Plains rd. not too far from Eden Wall. Its rough out there. Like songs Jay wrote just gave hope from the hood. Reasonable Doubt front to back was classic. Brooklyns Finest , i went NUTS when i heard jay say “Nigga please like short sleeves i bare arms” .. i couldnt believe my ears. the way Big and Jay went back n forth. amazing. The Lox are amazing at it too. Im just a hardcore lyric dude. hip hop at its finest. This post really brought the comment side of me. I took band class just to understand the notes played in songs and the drum patterns. This post was deep Groc, props on you kid. WORD.
^^TCU I’ll send you whatever you need……hit me up on myspace or at tapout1974@ezweb.ne.jp FOR REAL, if you need/want something hit me up and I’ll hook it up if it’s possible…..
You want a Japanese girl?…..BANG! You got it!….I’ll ship her right out……if you want her in nice kicks that’ll be extra!!
I LOVE Toronto by the way (I lived in Buffalo before and I used to drive to Toronto to party and shop at that big a$$ mall up there….and yeah, I must’ve met 1000 Chinese girls but NEVER a Japanese girl up there…..)
FCK DJ CK, JAY-Z BETTER THAN PAC? BETTER THAN BIG? BETTER THAM EM?THIS FOOLS BEEN SNIFFIN HIS INSOLES FOR TOO LONG, CAT HAS LOST HIS MIND, DONT GIVE A FCK HOW MANY SHOES THIS FOOL HAS
Hey Mike…first off I do respect u and we usually see eye to eye on most points…but on this I have to disagree. Don’t get it twisted I love hip hop, but the golden age has come and gone. I haven’t traveled the world, but I have been all over north and south America and the fact that ALL of American culture has infected the world does not mean that our beloved hip hop is alive and well. When we see eastern European kids wearing wave caps and g unit tees and little girls in the jungles of the yucatan being named brittney it is not because of the quality of the product. This is commercialism. This is the glam that I spoke of. Like I said before…until hip hop, rap what have you gets it’s version of nirvana to give it an enema we will continue to toil in the wasteland that we created. I am from the 80’s and what we have in hip hop now I compare to the the poisons and warrants, cindarellas etc that just sucked and we were forcefed. These are just my thoughts on the subject. Hit me back.
Nice interview. Much respect to DJ CK (Clark Kent). I just read Jay-Z biography. I suggest anybody interested in running a business to read it. He was a beast b4 hip hop. He just became a monster with it. Props to u both. Keep Hip-Hop alive (not rap)…PEACE
