Duke Kahanamoku Vans Surfer Collection
Vans pays homeage to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku by putting together a colorful collection of Authentic’s and Slip-Ons. Duke is known to be the man that helped surfing become popular. This Hawaiian native was no stranger to water seeing that he grew up around it, and was not only a surfer but a Olympic champion in swimming. Several decades down the line Vans re-releases 1965 Duke Alohas. That explains the bright colors and aloha pattern seen on both the Authentic and Slip-On models. The colors come in Formula One (Red), Lake Blue, Leprechaun Green, True Yellow, and Navy Blue. Pefect kicks for the Summer seaon or get away vaction to Hawaii.
Vans will donate $10,000 to the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation. A non-profit group whose objective is to keep Duke’s memory alive by helping Hawaii’s athletes participate in athletic competitions and further their education with the hope that they emulate Duke’s foot steps.
