Easton Police Donate 400 Pairs of Fake Sneakers to Boys and Girls Club

Fake Sneakers

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1 Corinthians 13:11). With that scripture in mind, we can’t roast Domanique and Hassan of the Boys and Girls Club for being excited about their fake kicks. Honestly, it’s not even a child thing because I can think of a handful of grown men that would have that exact same smile on their faces if they received FREE fake sneakers. I won’t call out any names, but you know who you are!

The Easton jump-out boys donated around 400 pairs of knockoff kicks to the Boys and Girls Club “Sneakers for Kids Program”. The estimated value of the counterfeit sneakers was more than $13,000.

Boys and Girls Club members Domanique Moser, 11, and Hassan Greenfield, 11, both of Easton, show off their new shoes. About 400 pairs of confiscated knockoff sneakers, valued at more than $13,000, are being donated through the Sneakers for Kids program. (DON FISHER, Allentown Morning Call / March 25, 2009) – TMC

Maybe it’s just me, but I found humor in this news. In this case, is it ok for the kids to say yes to fakes? It’s all good at the end of the day, and no disrespect to the Boys and Girls Club of Easton. Sneakers for Kids is an awesome program. I actually work with the youth at WorldChangers, so I know how important it is to help them. In this perverted world we must continue to pray for the youth. Enough preaching already.

I guess it’s good those who are underprivileged since they’re going to end up running around in them, playing in the dirt and what not. They’re going to end up in the same place as the real ones: wasted and to the garbage.

  12. Comment by SB_Kicker March 27th, 2009 at 10:45 am

    Wow no there not ^^

  15. SB_ Kicker would shut up everybody is not foruntantate to afford expensive sneakers. At the end day the shoes are being put to good use instaed of being throwing away or sitting in a evdience locker. I applaud these people for giving these children something to wear on there feet.

Say not to Fakes always! I really don’t care if Jordan brand loses money on fakes or not since it’s a greedy poor quality company. However what I don’t like about fakes is the conditions they are made in. Many of them are made in China, where they’re run by sweatshop owners who will hire children younger then the ones in the picture. Many children in these factories are basically sold to people so that they’ll earn money for their parents. And as if that weren’t bad enough once a sweatshop has a police raid, those children are left homeless and vulnerable to any evil from the streets.

Look in no way do i support or will ever rock fake kicks, but damn these kids need these shoes and as much as i don’t like the police this is a good thing they did. In this economy a lot of parents cant even afford payless shoes and the ages of these kids no one in there school is gonna know the difference between real and variants. You can knock the shoes all you want but look at those two cheesing and try and tell me this isnt the best story you read all day. Kudos for the police doing something right in the black community for a change.

  22. Comment by XSQUARED BOSTON March 27th, 2009 at 11:44 am

why would they give children fakes were trying to get rid of fakes not keep them around. The easton police department are jerks and need to know fakes are for flakes. we shouldnt teach kids to rock fakes at all

  23. Comment by His Airness March 27th, 2009 at 11:48 am

well, I didn’t expect for cops to donate “real” sneakers!!! SHM…

Poor people that go there kids be walkin in all proud

Pisses me off, go buy sum damn reeboks or chucks

  25. Comment by SoCrys.py March 27th, 2009 at 12:00 pm

I don’t really know what to think about this one…it’s definitely a blessing for children that don’t have shoes at all..but at the same time soon as these kids step out on the streets they are definitely going to be subjected to criticism cause children these days are very cruel…I went to a school where the main focus was fashion and saw how bad it was for some people…so at the end of the day I guess it just depends on the confidence and self esteem of the kid and how comfortable they are with the shoes…

  26. ^^SB_Kicker…u need some nookie bruh.
    it’s NOT THAT serious yo…their just shoes…
go bac to 97 kid…like Common said then; One Day It’ll All Make Sense. peace & knowledge.

  27. Comment by jwalkn247 March 27th, 2009 at 12:23 pm

    Better than burining them.

  28. Say no to fakes, but it’s just kids…. I’ll let them have this one.

  29. Take the shoes, givem 2 nike, recycle the good materials, and make 400 REAL shoes. This is a nice story and it gives use 2 fakes but its still promoting them which isn’t realli cool. But giving to the needy is always good. In any other case keep burning fake shoes or just throw them on electrical lines!!!!

  30. Comment by DragonHill87 March 27th, 2009 at 1:12 pm

This is what I call a blessing in disguise… I think. Or the other way around.

  31. Comment by CenValCali March 27th, 2009 at 1:28 pm

All I wanna know is….Can they fit them damn joints? That girl or boy w/hair tied back, is holdin like a sz 12….I ain’t fienna roast these kiddos mayne cuz I wuz young once upon a time….Moms bought me a knock off Airwalk hi-top & I couldn’t wait to rock em that Monday morning. I had em all XJ-900s, Pro-Wings, & Troops & Lottos (hand-me-downs from older bro)….Makin a kid smile from a frown & givin from the kindness of your heart is a beautiful feelin….

  32. Should have dumped the fakes and put up the cash for cheap Starburys. At least they’d be legit. And won’t break underprivileged kids’ ankles along with their pride for rockin’ Sike Airs.

  33. Comment by JMan904 March 27th, 2009 at 1:35 pm

Now there are 400 more fake sneakers running around lol. Jk! I guess it’s a good thing for giving them away to ones in need of some sneakers, I doubt those kids could care less about the authenticity. They probably just look at it as, “I GOT SOME NEW KICKS AND THEY’RE NOT ALL BEAT UP ALREADY!”

  34. Comment by Rocboy23 March 27th, 2009 at 1:52 pm

I agree with jwalkn247 its better then just burning the shoes. These kids dont care if they are fake or not shoes are shoes, They are already made and no one is making money off them, so why not.

  35. Comment by Air Jedi March 27th, 2009 at 3:04 pm

I hate fakes 150% but those kids don’t have the cream to buy some sneakers.I don’t care if it is for a good cause, but those cats that wear fake and them walk with this “flow” like that got the real sh!t!!!! that the one i hate the most…you can see them in the street with gold chain, googie shirts and fake J’S!!!!

  36. Comment by cedric March 27th, 2009 at 3:37 pm

this is all good but why are giving these kids shoes when they already have shoes?
shouldnt they be given to people who are bare foot?
    just my thoughts

  37. Comment by Bo Knows March 27th, 2009 at 3:37 pm

If SB_Kicker would only understand that by the underprivileged, I meant the KIDS. Kids end up ruining sneakers and they end up in the garbage or all wasted. By the way you’re talking, well my kicks are kept cleaner and are probably more mature (older) than you.

  38. Comment by Ether March 27th, 2009 at 4:01 pm

They way kids are with shoes they won’t last that long anyway. as a parent i would rather have my kid destroy some cheap ass fakes than ruin the og’s that cost way more. so if it was my kid, i’d basically make the “fakes” their play shoes but i’d make sure they knew they were fakes and that its not cool to support buying fakes.

  39. Comment by 4DRUMZ March 27th, 2009 at 5:35 pm

GREAT Post G-Roc! It was awesome to se ya’ll really thinking about the ethics and morality of this situation! This is probably one of the most mature exchanges of comments ever on TSG because it causes us to collide grace and truth! It appears that grace is winning in our hearts… and that’s something you CAN’T FAKE!

  40. Comment by Jerronimo March 27th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Job well done to those who participated in this act. I was wondering what would happen to all the fakes. Glad they get some use. Who cares if they are fake. If you want the real kix and got the money for it do it. But these are kids who don’t that opp.

  41. do u think the kids no there fake
    cmon yall

  42. Damn….I almost had to do a double take. I live in Easton Pa and I’m probably like the only true sneakerhead in this wack ass city. Boys and Girls Club of Easton did a good thing though so I can’t knock em’ for that but these kids deserve authentics.

  43. LOL SNEAKERHEADS ARE PRETTY MUCH A BUNCH OF SELF CENTERED IDIOTS……WE PAY WAY OVER RETAIL FOR SOME SH*T THAT’S NOT GONNA MATTER WAY DOWN THE ROAD IN REAL LIFE……IT’S AN OUT OF HAND HOBBY, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS, AND WE’RE ALL SPENDING MONEY LIKE A BUNCH OF ASSH*LES TO BE HONEST. HOMELESS/UNDERPRIVELEGED PEOPLE APPRECIATE THE LITTLE THEY HAVE/GET, SO WHO GIVES A CRAP IF THEY’RE KNOCK OFFS, THEY’RE MORE THAN THOSE KIDS HAD THE DAY BEFORE, AND THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS. WHO GIVES A SH*T IF WE HAVE SHOES SUPPOSEDLY “WORTH” $900…..NOBODY’S GONNA PAY THAT MUCH FOR EM, SO ALL YOU CAN DO WITH EM IS SHOW EM TO OTHER IDIOTS AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF AS YOU TELL EM “THESE ARE WORTH $900!!!” I’M GUILTY OF IT TOO…..IN REALITY, IT’S STUPID AS HELL…..BUT I ALSO SHIP BOXES OF KICKS/CLOTHES TO THE PHILLIPINES AND GIVE KICKS TO YOUNGER FRIENDS ALL THE TIME……SO I MAKE THE EFFORT TO HELP WHEN I CAN…..AND I THINK EVERYONE IN A POSITION TO HELP PEOPLE OUT SHOULD DO SO…..LACING UP A PAIR OF NEW KICKS DOESN’T FEEL NEARLY AS GOOD AS GIVING SOMEONE SOMETHING THEY NEED WHEN THEY LEAST EXPECT IT……

  44. Comment by mplsfinest March 28th, 2009 at 12:26 pm

i agree with TokyoMike 110%. those shoes certainly brightened those kids’ lives, & i’m sure that none of them would give a damn whether they’re fake or not.

they should go to jail for giving kids false dreams!

and this is in my state…smh!

  46. Comment by murder4kickz March 28th, 2009 at 2:42 pm

FK nike for not donated legit kicks to them

  47. Comment by djenx March 28th, 2009 at 5:19 pm

*how does 400 pairs of kicks equal $13,000???*
    —-13,000/400
i would rather seen them donated than just thrown out. times is hard for people, so any help i think is very appreciated. if you dont have the means to live lavish you learn to appreciate things much more

  48. if they arrested them for fakes then they give the contraband away-isnt that a contradiction. i appreciate the gesture but how can police say its bad in one hand and ok in another. furthermore, these kids could have recieved pre-worn or donated shoes but oooh nooo how can american kids do that?!!! god forbid these american kids wear used kicks. theres those programs where folks send shoes to africa and latin america, and those people are glad to wear the pre owned shoes.so i guess american kids dont need em unless they new. i guess they can keep em next to their leaked T.I. album, and barbershop dvds.

  49. Comment by Quail March 29th, 2009 at 6:06 pm

This is bullshit. If those kids went out and bought fake kicks the shoes would be taken away and the kids/parents should be apprehended. This is justified because copyright laws keep the country fair. If you make a great design, you deserve the money from it. Your not allowed to steal someone else’s design. We all agree on that.

Then why is it ok for cops to give confiscated fakes away? Because the kids don’t have shoes to wear…BULLSHIT. There are a gazillion shoes out there for sale that cost like nothing, that aren’t stolen designs. If the kids/parents want nice shoes they have to pay for them like everyone else or buy the cheap ones. Maybe if the kids didn’t get fake shoes, some of them would save up and buy some nice nikes or just cheap nikes. I doubt they would go without shoes.

So in the end, by giving out fake shoes to poor kids, they are illegal lowering nike’s profits

  50. Comment by sincere March 30th, 2009 at 12:43 pm

they should have burned those shoes and thats disrespect to nike as well
