Fila bites Prada
The inspiration or biting (whatever you want to call it) continues, and this time around the OG sneaker brand “Fila” creates a shoe named the Helmsman. It’s no secret, Fila definitely wanted to make a more affordable Prada style sneaker, so they gave birth to the Helmsman. What more can we say? Fila says if your looking for that Prada look, but don’t want to pay the Prada fee, then the Helmsman is your best bet.
To help endorse the Helmsman, Fila contacted Mr. ”J’s on my feet, but you can’t get these, Louis Vuitton brown, white, and yellow – trick please” aka Hurricane Chris. It’s true, Hurricane Chris was called to help promote the Helmsman and the ads have been spotted in various lifestyle and music magazines.
Fila use to have a lot of respect, but they lost their mojo somewhere down the line. The Helmsman is now available in lows and highs, retail $80 and $90. It has truly been a funny week on TSG: J.Rock, Supra Dance, and now the Prada x Fila sneaker.

I have mixed feelings on these. On one hand the pradas are dope, but these are like a direct knockoff. As far as I can remember fila used to be a very hi end shoe, I guess I would have done these a little different. The real deal prada are hard to find ( available at places like Saks and Neimans) and are 3x the price. So I guess if you wanna save some dough these are the way to go. I have a feeling if these dont sell youll see them at your local retailer for like 40 bucks soon.

XtraFly – Fila use to be the ish. Everyone knows I live in the A-Town and before Fila went to Footlockers, Walters was the only shop in ATL you could buy Fila. I remember wearing a pair of Fila’s in 2000/2001 my 12th grade year. The folks at school was hatin cuz no one was on Fila’s anymore (Fila had a big buzz in the early 90’s). However people started asking me where did I get them, and slowly the Fila wave started to splash in major footwear retailers.
Before that, you only saw a handful a people in the “A” rocking Fila “Original Fitness”. I had (still do) a couple of pairs, and my all time fav was brown/tan/cream. Those bad boys were so dope, I just pulled them out of my closet while typing this comment. Fila was the a classic brand that put out classic kicks, but when they hit Footlocker the colors got crazy and ugly. Man I miss those days!
As for the Helmsman, I’m straight, but I know people will be able to rock them with jeans and get away with people thinking their Prada’s..
yup you def. right g-roc. Fila was def. the ish back in the mid 90’s. but i think they lost people when they lost Grant Hill as there man
fila is still okay depending on what style you pick. they really did copy prada but thats the next thing with sneaker brands.

Nah chill thatbehim, the Gourmet sneakers aren’t as bad as these. Not to say I wouldn’t buy them or wear them but it depends. Really I just feel like if you have the money to buy Jordans(REAL) you mights as well buy Pradas but…the world don’t move to the beat of just one drum.

hes right. 2 many ppl need to really hop off Fila. Always been top 3 of my brands. Like most people, Nike+Jordans, but Fila always had good moments thruout my life. I actually own a pair of the Fila Helmsman, but with no intention watsoever of wanting Pradas. And i always say they’re Filas. But honestly, people are way too materialistic, and need to accept some clothes for favoritism rather than price. seriouly.
No one said anything about BAPE and nikes? jay-z shoes? but wow. i mean grow up. If it wud be Fake Pradas? as most say, it wouldnt even have a brand.
