Introducing the Jordan CP3.III

Jordan Brand and All-Star guard Chris Paul announced the nationwide launch of Paul’s third signature shoe, the Jordan CP3.III. The Jordan CP3.III introduces new technology, called Podulon (pronounced PAHD-ju-lahn), to complement Paul’s lightning-quick playing style. This innovative midsole cushioning system has never been used before in a performance basketball shoe.
Podulon was developed as an evolution to the Independent Podular Suspension system that was a cutting-edge feature of the Air Jordan XX. Podulon’s breakthrough lies in the engineered shape of Cushlon foam that, when strategically placed under the forefoot area receiving high impact, provides cushioning exactly where needed without compromising the integrity of the shoe. Cushlon’s lifespan is long, so the Podulon technology is meant to sustain comfort and responsiveness.

“We’re constantly working to develop new technologies that complement Chris’s advancement in the game of basketball,” said Jason Mayden, Jordan Brand Senior Footwear Designer, who collaborated once again with Paul to design the Jordan CP3.III. “The performance elements incorporated in the Jordan CP3.III will only enhance his explosive, agile and fast style of play.”
The shoe’s overall design inspiration comes the hornet, chosen both for its reference to Paul’s team and for its amazing maneuverability in nature. As a personal tribute to Paul, the Jordan CP3.III includes a special “Family Crest” graphic with details representing his mother, father, brother and late grandfather. For example, one of the hexagons features his father’s initials (also “CP”) surrounded by the number “28” to symbolize the number of years Paul’s parents have been married.
“The Jordan CP3.III is my most comfortable basketball shoe yet. Not only does this shoe have incredible performance benefits, but I also love the way its design represents me and the people most important in my life,” said Paul.

As one of the game’s top point guards, Chris Paul has entered his fifth season as a team leader, a MVP contender and perennial All-Star. Paul’s character and unrivaled talent led him to be handpicked by Michael Jordan during his rookie year to become a member of Team Jordan. Paul joins fellow Team Jordan athletes Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Derek Jeter as the next generation to carry on Jordan’s legacy on and off the court.
A special limited edition Jordan CP3.III will launch in select retailers on Saturday, December 26, 2009 for a suggested retail price of $118. The Jordan CP3.III will then launch nationwide on Saturday, January 2, 2010 for a suggested retail price of $118.
