Jordan Brand Welcomes Back Larry Miller
Jordan Brand welcomes former Portland Trailblazers president, Larry Miller back to helm of operations. Miller’s tenure at Jordan Brand reigned from 1999-2006, a very good era for JB. Now that Mr. Miller is back, will we see better quality in the retro releases and stronger lifestyle releases? Only time will tell and we’re interested to see what’s next for the brand in the future. Of course, as president, the main focus is global growth so it will be interesting to see what “big picture” ideas Miller may have for the brand. What are you hoping to see during Miller’s time in office?
BEAVERTON, Ore. (July 9, 2012) – NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) today announced that Larry Miller will rejoin Nike as President of the Jordan Brand. Miller will be responsible for driving the global growth strategy for all aspects of the Jordan Brand and will report directly to Trevor Edwards, Vice President Global Brand and Category Management for Nike. Miller replaces Keith Houlemard, who will now lead the company’s future worldwide Olympic efforts as General Manager where he will be responsible for driving category and brand management strategies supporting key sports marketing partnerships and business across the globe.
Miller, 61, most recently served as President of the Portland Trail Blazers. From 1999 to 2006, Miller served as President of the Jordan Brand and prior to that position, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Nike Basketball, where he managed operations for Jordan, Nike Basketball and Converse.
Miller currently serves on the board of directors for Self Enhancement Inc. (“SEI”), the Oregon Business Council, Oregon Sports Authority, and is a member of the Portland Mayor’s Economic Development Cabinet.
“The Jordan Brand inspires consumers around the world with exceptional products and premium experiences while celebrating the culture of sport,” said Trevor Edwards. “The Jordan Brand continues to drive strong momentum in the marketplace and we look forward to Larry expanding our market leadership while delivering Jordan Brand experiences that connect deeply with future generations.”
Michael Jordan said: “It’s great to have Larry return to the Jordan Brand at such an exciting time. He is a strong leader, knows our brand and understands how to accelerate the growth of a premium business. Keith Houlemard has been an exceptional leader for our brand. His leadership, hard work and vision had much to do with the Jordan Brand’s unparalleled success in recent years. I know he will excel in his new role and I wish him all the best.”

bring back “nike air logo” or stay home….
haha^
It’s not happening youngblood. You missed your chance. The 80′s and 90′s have come and gone. That era belonged to us older heads who actually watched him play LIVE wearing the NIKE AIR on his heels. Your era is his post NBA career and the Jumpman logo. Embrace it!
I am a relative Youngblood,27, though I watched much of MJs career I wasn’t old enough to buy mose of the shoes myself. I totally respect what VoomVava said and that sentiment. I would hate to know that if I was an OG collector or buyer that all the kicks came back out in exactly the same form that they did in the past. Hell I am happy as hell that the Olympic 6s that came out this past weekend had the midsole color change. I had them in 2000 when most people from BK never had set foot in Niketown NYC and I loved that few in my borough had them. Now that they are out again I don’t feel cheated. Yea I bought the 2012s also but I felt great to know that the original pair is left in the past. Respect the culture yall
BRO!!! IM 36 YEAR OLD….ENOUGH SAID.
I respect what voom said true story. I’m 27 myself abd say MJ win titles as a kid. As much as I would like Nike Air it’s not gonna happen Jordan brand is its own thing under Nike. They stated it 100xs and good quality ain’t coming either since production would cost more for those materials. The Olympic vi that dropped this weekend were an example of crao materials.
