Jordan CP3.V Media Event Recap
Jordan Brand unveiled Chris Paul’s fifth signature Jordan shoe, the CP3.V, on Thursday, January 5th. The event took place at the Cooper Building in Los Angeles, CA. The Shoe Game was on hand at the Jordan CP3.V launch event, and we got to hear the scoop about the CP3.V, straight from the mouth of Chris Paul and CP3.V designer, Tom Luedecke. The Jordan CP3.V officially releases on January 11th. Retail is $120.
Check out the full event recap below.

With Chris Paul, it’s all about being quick. How quick? Well, think along the lines of quick can’t be caught. Better yet, try shaking your shadow. Good luck with that. But we all know CP3 is quick enough to shake you and his shadow. Jordan Brand decorated the launch event with CP3 artwork and provided us with a journey through Chris Paul’s basketball past.

One of the rooms displayed Chris Paul’s childhood pictures and other basketball related items from his youth. The other rooms represented his high school and college basketball days. A special West Forsyth Jordan CP3.V was on display in the high school room, but before you get excited, this colorway will not hit retail.

The Wake Forest room also had several items on display from CP3′s college days, including his jersey, pictures, and of course a Wake Forest colorway of the Jordan CP3.V.

After viewing the rooms, it was time to hear from the man himself and Tom Luedecke. Chris Paul spoke on his excitement about his new Jordan shoe. He also mentioned that the Jordan CP3.V is his favorite model from his signature line to date. Tom Luedecke spoke on the technical and performance aspects of the shoe. Tom also shared information about how he studied CP3′s style by watching old games of Chris Paul. By researching and analyzing Paul’s game, Luedecke was able to build a shoe that compliments his game and continues to allow CP3 to be quick.

Several upcoming colors of the Jordan CP3.V were unveiled at the event. Most notable was the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (pictured above with Chris Paul). The Jekyll & Hyde Jordan CP3.V stole all the attention, especially the Hyde, due to its bright colorway. The inspiration of the Jekyll & Hyde CP3.V reflects CP3′s on and off court personality. On the court, CP3 is all about winning and being aggressive, and the Hyde CP3.V embodies that side of Chris. Off the court, CP3 is a loving person that cares about everyone around him, and the Jekyll CP3.V mirrors his compassionate side. The Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Jordan CP3.V will hit select Jordan Brand retailers this summer.

Here’s a look at a few more colorways of the Jordan CP3.V.

dang ima supporter of the fight against breast cancer it makes me a lil upset the coaches vs cancer are not making retail
I’m not sure any hyped CW’s or limited edition releases can really save the sheer boredom of this model!?!? I hope it plays well… and assume it does!
The lines don’t work for me… that’s my biggest complaint with Jordan Brand PE releases… the lines don’t aesthetically work for me. My attention is not on the mudguard/toe-wrap panel… it’s on the ankle collar and that forward swooping piece of it that goes forward under the eyelets is a HORRIBLE shape that detracts from what would otherwise simply look like a Jordan Hyperfuse low!
I say they’re the best CPs yet.
Mr. Hyde’s go rather hard if i do say so myself.
coaches vs cancer colorway >>>
great recap – the displays were on point, but the model isn’t aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.
The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a nice concept. I wonder if there is gonna be any type of special packaging?
I wished JB would’ve have stepped up and give him his own signature look. It looks to much like a Nike hyperfuse or hyperdunk
I love the recap, as for the shoe it looks like a basketball shoe! I like that but gotta keep those ‘lifestyle’ colorways off the shoe. That wake forest shoe is amazing. The Kentucky colorway too. Those bright funky colorways are a no. CP3 is a quality player , let’s,not diminish his image by making his shoes into color whores like Nike is doing to lebron and Kobe.
I remember CP saying the cuts in the upper
represented the points he scored in tribute
to his grandfather.
With that said, I think some of the details that
correlate to the players life aside from colorways
may be lost in translation but the color hits are
respectable and I’d like to see some stronger designs/concepts
in the future.
A great basketball shoe overall
Look wise, I don’t know. It’s not terrible, but it’s not monumental by any means also. That’s not a bad thing I suppose, but it’s like their not taking any risks with this one. I’ve played in CP’s before and they’re great balling shoes, but for everyday wear, just don’t do it for me.
The shoe isn’t bad. It’s not great, but not bad. Like Jawrduhn said, they’re not really taking any risks with this one, but to me, that is kind of a reflection of CP3 and his game. Nothing overly flashy or eye catching, but efficient and gets the job done. I like that they are giving him the “Jekyll and Hyde” pack, since the hype alone on those will be enough to sell em. I like bright shoes so the Hyde pair is on my radar, but I want to see them in person first.
The event looks like it was really cool. I like how the rooms are a timeline, thought that was dope. I’d love to go to something like this some day
overall the shoe is not bad…not really made for street wear as i know that is how most ppl will judge…looks like it will be a great bball shoe
Definitely one of the better CP3 signature sneakers, can’t wait to see what those Dr Jekyll’s look like in person
These remind me too much of the CP3 IV. Don’t get me wrong, they are both very nice kicks, but I would have preferred a little bit more of an aggresive look to these. You know; aggresive, but clean.
Not excited about this shoe at all. None of the models have ever really done anything for me, and since I don’t play basketball, I will never experience the comfort or playing feel of these shoes. All I can go on is aesthetics…and these are aesthetically awful to me. Nonetheless, I am always hyped to see G-Roc and TSG get these opportunities to travel and be press at these events. Keep up the good work TSG!
Love the Cool Grey and the Hydes
