Kanye West makes the April/May cover of Complex Magazine. The magazine hits stands April 7th, so be on the look out. Complex spoke with both Kanye West and Mark Smith about the Air Yeezy history. It was after the Air Force 1 “1 Night Only” event [in December 2006]. I sat there and drew countless forms of shoes, and a lot of them were inspired by Back to the Future, by the McFlys or whatever people call them—I just call them the Mags. All kinds of different ideas that stemmed from that and Robotech and all my other anime influences.
I grabbed all these Jordans from their archives, and I’m sitting in the office next to Tinker [Hatfield, Jordan designer] and Mark, just pulling out shit and putting it in front of him like, “I like this element.” We just vibed it out. – Kanye West

Groc im hearing first few days of april for release date, i even heard the 4th, thats not too far away? u hear anything?

the first samples were horrible. these shoes sure made a long journey to lookin nice. at least the end result is a pretty heated sneaker. still don’t know if ima get them, gotta see what nike sb has to offer for the next 2 months

Saw this earlier today, but I actually kinda like the 3rd to last pic and I would like to see the sample pair Kanye was talking about in the interview that lights up. He said it was an earlier sample and u would press a button and they would stay light up! That’s sounds crazy I wish that would have made it to final design.
And I know this is off subject but for all u die hard fomaposite fans, there going to retro the Tim Ducan foams!!! Release is set for late “09″ early “10″! And they will retro in the original Chrome/ metallic silver colorway.
uhm…. the Blk CW is Triple D sexy, the rest are boring A cups.
off topic= i was in footaction and dude said he had the product number for the cinci colorway of the griffey. he put it in the computer and it came up and i ordered . nk giffey w\red\blk. product#4416546104130. if anyone knows how to look this up that would be sick. has anyone seen these or not
^^sneakernerd-ric0^^ oh word! the tim duncan foams r my favorite foams all time, n especially those chrome/metallic silver joints. i had them when i was in 5th grade. will defin be gettin another pair.

@ TokyoMike – Yeah I actaully like one of the samples and elements of some of the other ones. I thought I was going to be the only person here who had something positive to say about the samples lol
@ TorontoComeUp – I don’t think quick-strikes are anywhere near as available as limited releases. Maybe it depends on where you live though. I am in NYC and quick-strikes are very hard to get.
I sure hope these are general releases… at least the black and silver ones.
These will be more available then everyone thinks….I got confirmation (will from one spot) that retail will be $250…This spot has them already and the release is set for next Thursday (2nd) Im hearing that the offical Nike release date is actually the 4th but this store will be releasing them early…I still haven’t seen the actual Box..seen the kicks, tried them on, and DAMN im sold…Yo when you try these honestly your gonna be thinking about what BILLS not to pay to justify these joints…hard body all the way…Nike shipped last week…most spots, if they are getting them, will have them the end of this week if not already….Each store will get between 3 to 4 pairs per size for a total of 18 to 24 pairs…To be honest…if you really like them, pay the $25 dollar surcharge that moms and pops will hit you with…Large Accounts, Niketown, Footlockers (34th and I think 42nd) will get the same stock as small shops…Stay with your connects and to all good luck!!!!

I can already tell that it’s going to be hard to get a pair of these if Nike has limited these to 9,000 pairs each color way. Oh well, Is there any word on those RT1′s btw? LOL!

^^C Brown these come in the brown NSW box……I know a few “VIP’s” who have em already and they came in that doo-doo brown box.
@ philwil lol I thought I was gonna get crucified for saying I liked the samples….but to be honest, given the chance to take any pair up there, I’d take the ones with the blue strap over any other ones, samples or otherwise……
^ Tokyo..nah I’ve seen the box…just not in person…I wanna see the actuall box so I can see what the real suggested retail is..my local spot is telling me it says $250 but I think they are full of it and just charging a $35 vig on top…another funny thing I’m hereing is Nike is really controling the secondary market (I.e. eBay flight club etc) by imposing restrictions on when the kicks can actually be sold….(another reason eBay and vintagekicks as well as online retailers are not flooded with them) there is a true release date…then from what I understand an “advertisement” date which is kinda the green light to advertise stock and release info…WOW…talk about hyped release…my connect won’t even sell ME these joints , even thought they have them, till next Thursday…which I’m gonna assume is advertisement date…it’s crazy Jordans aren’t even controlled this way….also any retailer who violates any release protocol will not recieieve future shipments…I’m being told Nike and Mr West are doing so to insure that all have a fair chance of copping…(forget the release they should have done something better with the price)

man them samples are nasty the only way they look nice is with the jordan 3 sole they kinda look like the 3s and the 5s on the toung but im feelin the Y print imma cop the black and pink fo sho
I like the elements of the samples cuz i kno he was shootin for a mcfly type of shoe and i especially like the 3rd one for some reason but glad he did change the midsole actually
so whats so great about this shoe? seems like its jockin a lotta different styles from different shoes.. a super fusion. seems to be more hype than anything. but to each his own.
not really feelin the yeezys at all…….
but the black/pink ones are pretty tight, probaly the best
