LA Gear gets their Air Jordan 4 swag on, well at least that was the plan. Sneaker companies looking to one another for ideas and inspiration is nothing new in the sneaker culture, so this should come as no surprise. However, LA Gear is having a hard enough time trying to win back their “back in the day” fans and we honestly don’t think this rip is going to help. There should be a warning on all LA gears telling people there is a strong chance they will get their asses kicked if they wear them. I could have used that warning back in the day….
D’Wayne Edwards said he used to work at LA Gear, which can seem impressive to most. But that got me thinking the other day; LA Gear was never hot, yet Edwards act’s like he has this impressive resume. Yeah I know the guy is a sneaker head and is really friendly, however I have to be honest and say it’s guys like him that are ruining the sneaker game for me. Nike has too many sneaker fans working for them that are more fans of what Nike has done than actual sneaker designers that want to bring something new to the game. And until Nike hires some bona fide designer (and not a fan) with fresh ideas, the sneaker game will be doomed to only retros and sneakers inspired by older sneakers.

I suggest that LA Gear end the era of “LA Gear” and do a whole new line of shoe (with new designers) with a new name/logo and identity…LA Gear is a big part of the “back in the day” shoe culture….but its not one that will survive in modern times. If you don’t want to change your name at least keep it inside the shoe cuz LA Gear is just wiggity wiggity wiggity wack!

I kind of agree with Glen-Dizzle on LA Gear teaming up with some high profile designers possibly even high-end. Younger all I really remember where the LA Lights which were ill for sure. Probably the only sneaker commercial I remember vividly without the help of Youtube. Going mom and pop store hunting introduced me to them more as one of those brands that took crazy chances. I think they can make a comeback this year but with their left field designs and not bites. BK Knights didn’t make it back and neither did Troop. Put them bitches on a runway in Milan and rock from there. Fruck LA Gear biting Jordan though.
