Even though Magic and Larry Bird have both referred to Jordan as God, I’m glad Michael kept it humble and gave respect where respect is due.
As far as Lebron wanting to change his number…I think the man-child is now ready to become a man…and you do that first by establishing YOUR identity.
And in the case of a bball player…you want your badge of honor, i.e. your number, to support that.
As far as I’m concerned the # 23 is and always will be Michael Jordan’s badge of honor PERIOD

If every team in the league is not going to do it…it’s pointless. It will be a hollow jock riding gesture. In MLB the 42 is retired universally to represent “everything” Jackie Robinson stood for in the game. The NBA needs to do the same thing, otherwise forget it.

MJ will always be the GOAT on the basketball court….I guess he’s the greatest on other aspects in life also. I’ve heard that MJ would physically put hands on his teammates like a damn drill sergeant. If Phil Jackson couldn’t do it, who would be next to kin? Haven’t met MJ in person yet, but I’d love to 1 day. I respect ‘Bron for his move.

wow…a lot of heat coming off this post. I’ve never met MJ but love what he did for the game and urban fashion in general. I could care less if the guy is an asswhole. I read an article and he said the he just wants his life back from the public/media. He’s spent the majority giving it to others to please others. To be honest I would not be an asswhole but I’d be tired of peeps asking for shit too. The NBA needs to be kissing up to him.
