Nike 1/2 (Half) Cent – Penny Hardaway Hybrid
In Spring 2009 Nike will release a special hybrid that pays homage to Penny Hardaway’s signature shoe line. A combination of several Air Penny’s have been placed on the new “1/2 Cent” silhouette. The Nike Air Foamposite One characteristics is the most obvious on the sneaker, but if you look closely you can see features from other Air Penny models.
The 1/2 Cent will land in March 2009 for a retail of $190. Check out the other pic after the jump.

whoa these are one of the best hybrids nike has ever done. the penny’s were always one of my fav’s and now i can own a sneaker with all the penny’s in one. i guess they charging 190 since they used so much foamposite plastic. i’m already looking forward to 09.

HMMM still undecided on these. DA One I feel you why not just get the foams/pennys but this is still a cool idea, but with all the other heat dropping (read: eggplant foams and posites) who will drop duckets for these. For some reason the inside (of the foot) is better than the outside on these and they kinda remind me of a bad Zoom Vick hybrid.
OMG!!! These are so serious! It takes me back to when I saw Mike Bibby in the Foamposite 1’s in the ‘97 Final 4 when he led my Cats to the title! I gotta have ‘em.

These are cool, dont kno if I would get em though. They would be great for ballin for sure! Air Penny 1 partial mid upper w/ swoosh and sidewall, Air Penny 2 upper, Air Penny 3 chrome logo at the top and sole (added clear sole featured from the foamposite is a nice touch), Foamposite mid section (duh right) and I think the only thing I see from the Penny 4 is the heels pull tab if Im not mistaken. Does that answer your question G?

I can’t be the only one that see’s that Nike is out of ideas. In a bad way. All they bring out now is retros (which are cool) and hybrids. What’s next, a Bo Jackson hybrid? Think about it. The spiz’ike, dub-zero, AJF, 6 rings, Trainer/Dunk/Free, Dunksto, Sharkley, now this, I’m sure I forgot some too. They have to be letting the interns come up with this stuff, there is no way I’d pay some body for some old ideas Nike came up with 10+ years ago. These are not ugly, but I’d rather have each shoe instead.
I meant I woulda liked to see more of the Air Penny III inthis shoe.
But like ^dj.jbras, I would rather have the actual shoe instead (Air Penny III). I HOPE they retro the AP III.

These joints have been a work in Progress for quite some time. I have watched them go from Pure Hot Poo Poo to this version which I actually like alot.
But I am Bias knowing both the Designer and Product Line Manager who worked on this Design. I was asked about what I thought when this was being developed….
I….. as was my compadre…..from the DMV….a bit skeptical at first, but I took my “from the urea” hat off and thought…
A Penny Hybrid Compilation.. how would it be recieved?
Foam based? Check
Future Colors based from Foam pro’s or Pennys? Check
Not a big shoe like Lebrons IV? Check
Then at a Price point Consumers who love foams are used to paying.. It makes sense to try.
It is MUCH better than it used to look. I don’t know if I would have had the FULL Foam look on the interior, I would have made the anterior and interior sides equal… but this will ALSO become a ReEPEAT Purchase for many in the DMV and beyond because of the Compilation affect the Dub or Spizike didn’t achieve yet sold well.
The other colors will do well as this Royal Penny one.

shoes are icy hot! and sold out. shoes fit true to there size and are very comfortable . retail $190. ghetto clue in sac., ca have them. no one else will get them. bay area sf will get in the third week in march. have lots of pairs on ebay for $300 , same on craigslist too. darkside nor huf haven’t got in yet. happy campin =) worth the wait.
