Nike Air D.T. Max Retro “Deion Sanders” Update

Nike Air D.T. Max Deion Sanders

The D.T. Max or Diamond Turf Max hit the scene back in 1995/1996. Nike released the “zebra stripe” Deion’s in three colorways. Black/White, Navy Blue/White, and White/Fire Red/Black were the only colors to release and made for Mr. Neon Deion Sanders. Primetime was the man, I can remember when he use to be in both the MLB & NFL (like Bo Jackson) playing with the Atlanta Falcons and Braves. That explains why Deion’s are so popular around here. Anyhow the D.T. Max just might be the hottest pair of DT’s to ever drop, but thinking about it the 1st pair was instant classics. Nike did Deion right, they produced his signature shoes from 1993-1997.

Over a decade later Nike decides to re-release the D.T. Max. As of right now we know the black/white pair will return, and the white/fire red/black pair has finally landed. Most retro’s don’t return in their exact OG form, so I’ll give you the run down on what’s different. The red is off (retro seems to be darker), no speckled midsole and black/red fade effect, red swoosh instead of metallic gold, air bubble unit is red now, red swoosh on sole, and last but not least his picture inside the air bubble on the bottom has been replaced with Nike Air. Nonetheless you can own a pair now without paying $250-$350+, but the retro’s won’t come in the cool “airmax” box. They are now available for a retail of $125 at a store near you.

That is messed up how Nike took out Deion’s image and replaced it with a Nike Air logo. Back then people got them just because of the face on the shoe. Nike losing points for this.

I hope nike doesn’t release too many colors

  6. I think Nike’s are going to the retro look now for the more casual crowd. Their athletic line is ugly, but I like the retro looking ones.

  7. Nah man. WHY THESE? I dont remember what year.. I guess it was 93. THOSE were the hot ones. And the most comfortable shoe I ever had. These are UGLY. Especially without the face on them. Thats wack. Come on Nike. You know deion cant be asking for too much money lately at all. Buy him a decent ($200 for him) suit and hed let you use his face again. But bring back the 93’s. the originals dammit. THOSE were hot
