Nike/Jordan Brand Lawsuit over Hall of Fame Air Jordan Collection

Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls

The title says it all, but we knew the classic MJ image would get your attention. Today we inform you about another lawsuit against Nike. Sports Fuzion Inc. caught feelings when they found out about the upcoming Hall of Fame Air Jordan Collection. Their lawsuit charges Nike with interfering with the contract between Sports Fuzion and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. They are seeking more than $10 million in damages.

SportsFuzion cited Nike’s plan to release an Air Jordan Hall of Fame Collection this summer and the sportswear giant’s recent launch of a marketing campaign to promote those sneakers and apparel. SportsFuzion pointed to estimates that Nike could sell more than $100 million of such products globally.

I’m thinking Nike/Jordan Brand should be able to beat this case seeing that none of the HOF Jordans actually say Hall of Fame. The pack pays tribute to MJ’s induction into the Hall of Fame and is set for a September release (MJ will be inducted into the HOF in Septemeber). Is that a loophole I smell?

  3. loopholes are how these things all go down anyways, so its not even a worry

  4. 1st Eddie Van Halen, now this crap. Nike will end up paying but not 10 mil. They might even win the lawsuit. Everyone is trying to get paid in this recession.

    SportsFuzion has no case.

Unless Nike puts “Hall Of Fame” or “HOF” on the box, they’ve got nothing.

As we know, Nike never puts custom labels like “Motorsports” or “Grape” or in this case “HOF”

They always put Air Jordan # Retro, then add LS or Premier where necessary.

Nike just has to market/advertise right.

Oh and of course, they can’t have any “Hall of Fame” or “HOF” on the shoe itself. :P

Theres nothing to worry about, even if they had a case against nike and were to win, nike got billions on deck.It proly wouldn’t effect them anyway.

P.S. What those “HOF” 3’s look like ?

  16. The funny thing about Nike is they abhor bad press. HOF doesn’t need to be labeled on the shoe or box in order for FuzionSports to win the case either out right or due to a settlement. Do you all remember the Marvel INSPIRED pack (“Invisible Woman” Air Force or the “Torch” Air Max 95) or the original Bakin??? The fact it alludes to the product in this case the Hall of Fame is enough for Nike to settle out. Don’t be surprised if this goes away with a large check…

Feets Malone got a good point….Nike will cash em out w/o a doubt….Any company sees the opportunity to tax a another multi gazillion dollar company for copy right reason will do so & most likely win….
MJ shoulda grab the ref’s whistle & blew him out! Wonder what wuz Phil Jackson’s reaction in the background….
