Nike Puts DTLR in Timeout

dtlr sneaker and clothing

Heads up!

Nike partially suspended DTLR’s (Down Town Locker Room) account. According to DTLR, they will not have access to “select release” products from Nike and Jordan Brand starting January 2014, but they mentioned they will continue to have access to other Nike and Jordan Brand product. DTLR did not release information regarding how long the suspension will be, but sources close to TSG said it could be for as long as six months. Sources also revealed the reason is due to the retailer selling shoes to third party accounts, which is a huge no-no as an authorized Nike, Inc. account. DTLR has yet to confirm that particular info, but that’s what was told to TSG by a DTLR employee.

Here’s the announcement DTLR posted via Facebook:

ATTENTION:: As mentioned in our press release on December 6th, we ended our IPO due to a business development. DTLR will NOT have access to SELECT RELEASE products from both NIKE and Brand Jordan for several months STARTING January 2014. We WILL continue to have access to other products in NIKE and Brand Jordan’s product line. Once we get through this period, we will have access to the release product. #DTLR

We will keep you updated regarding this situation.

All team jordan garbage n other nike kix that nobody’ll want is those guys’ punishment, huh.

  • ^Pretty much. I was told they wouldn’t be carrying any Nike/Jordan product for several months, but DTLR’s statement says differently. However, its’ safe to say they won’t be getting any Nike/Jordan “heat” for a few months which sucks for them and their loyal customers.

I heard this too from a little higher up the corporate ladder..
They were selling to third party china resellers
    Shoes that couldnt sell
    Or were return to vendor..

Nike checked the books and they actually had wholesale written there in the books

Well if you are that dumb you diserve to get caught

  • +ddictedIIkix

This is going to make it harder to cop kix in the central VA area where we have about 7 DTLR locations. A lot of people depended on the latest Jordan releases.

  • Lem

Good. The DTLR here in NC is shady too. I was a matter of time before something happened.

  • dmy

i wonder why Nike Inc pulled Air Jordans from the Mills retailers. i can tell you all first-hand this year has really sucked. no Jordans? really?? i wish we could get TEAM JORDANS-the real Team Jordans- because stuff like that sells. just to let you know what Team Jordans it’s stuff like Vin Bakers, Team 1s, Jumpman Pros, Jumpman Pro Quicks. Google or Yahoo them if you don’t know.

  • Nik

DTLR tried to stop many small accounts and relations with NIKE but the funniest part is that DTLR themselves got caught cheating with NIKE # Finally good job NIKE

  • HGZ

Its hard for shops to actually make money with Nike/Jordan brand with the amount of skus they have to purchase in order to get the good releases. Even if they sellout they’re left with major profit losses with the clothing and Team Jordan product.

  • Noooooooo!!!!

Damn that sucks my girl at DTLR would always let me buy 10 pairs of the latest release i needed

  • Noooooooo!!!!

This is a tragedy. How will I be able to get a size run of every release to resell? Damn it

  • I’m a loyal Dtlr customer and I find this to be a tragedy, especially with all of the heat that’s about to be released.

Such a shame…I work at dtlr and would get fired for purchasing a new relasse from my own store. They fired 2 managers with lengthy tenures for simply buying a shoe from their own stores. They said they violated policy…whole time they violated Nike policy…fucking dumb ass hypocrites don’t really matter to me I’m just their to get a check…

  • Big dawg

Good this way past due I’m in the DMV and these young Erogant Managers think there above store policy I say clean house in all those stores

  • Big dawg

  • jargo

The problem is that Nike is strong arming every shop that they have under contract right now. If you do not buy a shit of a crap you wont get the good stuff. They can get away with it because currently Nike has no competition and what it makes these stores do it figure out how the hell they are going to unload the garbage quick enough they do not go broke so they end up whole sale selling in essence for around the same price they buy it from Nike for to other sellers that do not have an account. They are no alone although they have not gotten caught yet Unknown, Concepts, Mercer, Bodega, and several others all do this.

Yo I’m from Baltimore and found out about this a whole ago word out here is the stars were selling all there retros before hand to a third party for double price depending on significance and then buying up Gardena replicas and restocking boxes that’s just word out here though
