Nike Reinvents Some Of The Most Iconic And Sought After Sneakers With Engineered Mesh

How can you continue to re-release the same iconic and sought after sneakers without watering down the excitement? There’s no correct or incorrect answer, right? Most would say: Re-release the shoe every five to ten years. But what if the company wants to re-issue the shoe more often due to high demand? The folks at Nike created a new textile called Engineered Mesh. Nike is using Engineered Mesh to reinvent some of the most iconic and sought-after sneakers. For example: Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max 97. Come January 2013, Nike will introduce a women’s Engineered Mesh collection.

Reinventing some of the most iconic and sought-after sneaker silhouettes is no easy task … especially when the original was designed by the man most consider a sneaker deity: Tinker Hatfield.

Nike has done just that by applying a new textile called Engineered Mesh to the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max 97. Proprietary mesh patterns enhance the functionality while keeping the sartorial integrity of the sneakers timeless style.

Originally used in performance running footwear, this updated version of traditional spacer mesh improves breathability for wear during warmer months and flexibility through the elimination of layers and stitching. And Air Max has never been lighter thanks to the collection’s leaner profile.

Tight and loose perforation patterns are “zoned” to reimagine the color blocking and gradient panels of some of the world’s most revered sneaker designs.

The Engineered Mesh Air Max collection will be available beginning January 2013 as part of the Nike Women’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

    Each year Nike continues to produce cheaper products and raise the price on us for them. “EM” is nothing but a marketing scheme used to make the public think that we’re embarking on new advancement when in actuality it’s of cheaper quality and costs less for them to manufacture, which saves and makes them even more money. They’re going away from using leathers and other quality materials and replacing them with things like “Flywire”, and plastic based materials. It’s crazy how they’re getting over with this foolishnes!!!
