Shops get greasy for Yeezys
You have to respect the shop’s loyalty to loyal clientele. Especially when people lined up from the Monday before to obtain such a dope sneaker. We have been receiving a lot of complaints around the country about how things were ran. Auctions putting your 15 year olds against professional athletes, and drug dealers. Raffles that were clearly rigged as everyone’s most notorious resellers win 16 out of 18 pairs. Not to mention the mark ups again that took the last dime out that pocket.
You can’t respect the price jacking by many shops around the country this go around… or the previous two. So is it all a part of the game we play? Is it the recession? We’d like you all to vent now so we can all look forward to a 4th colorway from Nike. My personal favorite was the photos sent to me from a guy who drove 4 hours to a raffle at Next. How are you blessed to receive the shoes yet you can’t spell the name of the shoe right?

I don’t know right and wrong per say and I only purchased 1 pair of yeezy’s out the three, but if 50-75% of the people buying from your store are going to resell the shoes and get 500-600 guarenteed if not more, then how can you blame the store which is hurting to sell 60-70% of their stock that is not limited or popular produt, due to the state of the economy right now. They want their peice, they worked to build up a business and get an account.
And most poeple here would do some of the same things if they poured their lifes work and passion into building up a sneaker store, just to see a bunch of 15 year olds line up and try and make profit because they don’t have jobs.
Personaly, I like the way some of my favorite shops did this. Take your real loyal customers, not just the kids that line up for exclusives to flip or people who only buy whats limited or hot, but those who have frequented for years and purchase clothing shoes etc because they actualy wear it, and hook those poeple up who want pairs. Take the remaining 5-10 pairs(considering this release) and let the campers have them at BOX price. No overcharging, no feeling of getting scammed by resellers and taking care of your own, sounds like a good equation, and how I would run my shop. Still however, half the people on boards would complain about such a system I’m 24 and they know me where they know me, where I’ve been shoppin 4-7 years. You make enough connects and earn your keeps, in the begining, some XIV’s, XVI’s and XVII’s made me much happier than these ever could and they were accessable to everyone who could put up bank. So you buy what you like, even pick up all whites and gr air max’s from your quickstrike and TZ accounts, you buy some clothing and fitteds and they start hooking you up with 25% off on anything that is not release day product and holding the RD product that you do want most of the time, in your size cus they see you wearing those kicks sometimes when you come in and know how it is. You feel like your at home when you go into that shop and everybody knows your name and gives you love. You get invites to parties the shops throw and VIP meet some poeple in the music game and just enjoy life, becuase you enjoyed sneakers and connected with others who felt the same. Anyone feel me.
Lets do the math! Nike produced 3 color ways x 3,000 pairs of Yeezy’s = 9,000 pairs of shoes. They probably sold each pair to retailers at 60 % of $215 the retail price = $129 each pair of shoes. So, Nike made $129 x 9000 = $1,161,000 off the Yeezy’s worldwide (minus all costs). This type of money is nothing to a company that made $5.4 billion last year without the Yeezy’s!
Even though Kanye helped design the shoe. He was never given a contract or paid by Nike, especially if they only made 9,000 pair. If Kanye was being paid under contract, there is no way Nike would allow him to do a shoe with LV. It was an honor & privilege for Nike to make a shoe for a non-athlete, which has never been done before. Also, Kanye wanted the Yeezy’s to be released months before they came out and wondered if Nike would ever release them.
The hype for this shoe was created by what Nike & Kanye mean to our culture. They are both considered icons. If you take icons & create a product, plus anticipation & limited numbers = crazy hype! Therefore, you have people ready to campout for the product. The greedy consumers & retailers take the opportunity to make a profit on the re-sale. Then, someone establishes a crazy price & people pay it. Now, we are where we are today with this craziness!

Ok I agree with a lot of people on here about what’s going on in the sneaker money and most people are right its mainly greed. These kids today are spoiled because I don’t know how they are spend big change of 215 and above from retail stores. We are in a reccession come on people you can’t see past the hype? See what yeezy are about and how are they great?. They were made by kanye and cosigned by rick ross, those two are not the illest rappers in the game right now and they created a hype monster for a lot of people who fall victom to what they see as “cool” or “fresh”. I wasnt even trying to camp out for the yeezys just know that only two stores in philly was getting them. I tried to get them off of niketown which was selling for retail. But they said the was releasing on the 10th and turn around and release them on the 9th. This whole air yeezy experience has been a horrible one hopefully they come out with the 4th colorway

I totally agree with you on that. but isn’t that kind of what all of us do just by coming on this website and leaving comments on posts of new shoes. not that all of us beast over drops but just by saying you like a shoe coming out that adds to the hype. when people read 100 + comments saying how much people love the shoe on a drop for some new Jay’s of course that’s gonna make someone look at it and say i need these shoes! and no1 is ever gonna let new drops just sit on the shelf. i wish we could haha but it’s true, the shoe game is falling apart from what it used to be, becoming way too hyped up from these cool kids swagger jackers. either way i still think it’s shitty for NEXT to do what they did. i understand it’s a smart business plan and all but, damn it’s a shame that there are enough people out here willing to pay more than 500 bucks for a shoe that they could give a sh*t about and just want to look cool.

Concepts Boston sold raffle tickets for $40 just for a chance to buy a pair. Of course no one I know won and they did this raffle behind closed doors. I talked to heads who camped out there and they didn’t see anyone pull raffle tickets. Resellers are just fucking up this shoe game, there is profit, and then there is plain greed.

I had a great time getting my Yeezy’s. I ended up being 2nd in line at Supreme(Atlanta,Ga) and they did a midnight release. I only camped for 6 1/2 hours. I feel/felt really lucky to be able to get a pair (in my size!) without camping for a week. Even though their price was $325 (including tax) I feel it was worth it. I wish everyone had an easy time getting them like I did. I don’t think it’s fair that shops did auctions. I can understand doing a raffle but do it the right and fair way. Keep God first. Peace.
Bottom line you guys wouldn’t be saying anything if you got a pair. If people want to buy to resell/look cool or whatever. Who are you to tell them that their wrong.
^^nikehead….you are right to a point….there are people who post comments on every shoe they like, and then run out and get it, as if anyone cares that they got it….again, gobbling up every damn shoe Nike puts out, at any price, and keeping the prices higher. There are also smarter people who don’t let the hype drive them to spend money…..they comment about loving a shoe, but they leave it at that…they don’t run out and get every pair on the planet. Art collectors don’t buy every Dali painting on the planet, and shoe collectors need to view it the same way.
As far as those f***ing Yeezy’s, I got the Zen Grey Yeezy’s almost by accident…..I went to Mita shoes to get some NB’s, and the guys in line said they were there for the NB’s…..so I lined up….then they let us in and told us the line up was for the Yeezy raffle….at that point I was like “as long as I can get the Rake NB’s, then fuck it, I’ll join the raffle.” I grabbed the NB’s that I REALLY wanted, and a minute later I got called and told I was the first one they picked in the raffle…..and the shoes were $230…..add that to the fact that I actually liked the Zen’s, mostly rock hi tops, and the price was decent, I got em. I’m happy to have em, but truthfully, I’ll let em go for a decent offer…..the hype behind em and the amount of people that got screwed over trying to get em pisses me off to the point where I don’t even want em anymore……

im over here down in miami and i got the first pair 230 retail and i think im fucking blessd man i skipt 1 day of school and camped 3 days to cop amazing how the store across the street from werr i copt had da price at 1000 the week b4 and after i copt now 900 wich is still a rape session to your pocket greed is ugly yo retail is the way to go resellers calm down with that rape you in a line shit
their just leather and rubber. i love the yeezys and many other shoes but if i have to camp for a week and pay double the retail, its just not worth it to me. so i didnt cop any of the yeezys and im not even mad about it. true blue 3s in august woo hoo!

I really liked the all black yeezy’s but wouldnt even consider camping/over paying for them now but for the younger cat’s camping is cool I guess it brings them into the culture like when the me and the kids in my school used to cut school and cop the J’s (b4 the sat releases)and come back with them on back in the day. But I’m a washed up sneaker head these days I’ve either given away or ruined sneakers way fresher than some yeezys.On my loaf game these days but I do have a problem with rapesellers..er resellers that really overdo it and get the rig in so it’s not a true resell because they got all the pairs to begin with.It encourages the get over
