Teenager Shot in D.C. for Nike Zoom Rookies

| January 13, 2012 | Comments (23)

It pains us to bring news of a sneaker-related crime and today, we bring news of young man who reportedly lost his life over what authorities say were his shoes. David Lee Robinson was gunned down early Wednesday morning while waiting at a bus stop on Foote St. NE. The shoe was the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP and it has been reported that the killers also made off with the victims coat. David was survived by his family and his girlfriend who is currently 5 months pregnant. His assailants are still at large so if you have any information, please contact the D.C. authorities to bring Robinson’s family justice. Above all, we would like to stress to our readers that nothing of a material nature is worth losing or taking a life over and we hope that our readers take heed of our advice.

Our hearts go out to the victim’s family

Although it can get out of hand sometimes,
it should NEVER have to come to this under
    any circumstances.

  2. Yeah this was a sad story. But if you listen to the details and the fact that it was a shoot out, meaning there was return shots and the guy murdered had people with him, im starting to suspect that it wasnt really about the sneakers. I think there was some serious beef between these people and they took his sneakers n coat after the fact.

  3. Metatron says:

i used to see stories like this all the time back in the 90s when i was growing up in DC. not surprised tho. there is always some crazy stuff going down on that side of town.

  4. Eric says:

This is really sad to here. Oh well, some people are too crazy in this world.

  5. KidKrazy says:

I hate our news sometimes, this situation didnt have to do with the sneakers, they were just missing along with his coat when they found him, think about it, if the people were shooting from a car and they were shooting bacl, why would they get out just for some shoes?

  6. Deez says:

Had to be the glow in darks rookies

  7. Montres says:

The real victim is the baby who will never get a chance to know their dad.. Sneaker or sneakers that’s tough….

On a lighter note.. Let me not run into you out their bright.. I seen you with them Bin 9s hahah

  11. Serg252001 says:

Smh. When the shoe game goes bad.

  12. DarthVader says:

We don’t know if they were shooting back because of the shoes or what
    Think about it.

It could’ve been all about the shoes and the people with him just so happened
to return fire. You don’t know.

  13. aSh says:

Its always sad to hear a story like this… Dude was about to be a father too what a shame… My condolences and prayers go out to his family… R.I.P. David Lee Robinson…

  14. LG says:

Really sad story. Every year someone gets killed for their shoes in D.C. Rookies are still sitting in stores all over the city.

  15. I might be Royal Swag says:

I don’t believe people are this crazy. Killing and stabbing people over some rubber with velcro laces and paint on them. This is fucking ridiculous. You can’t even look good these days unless your a celebrity with over people waiting to catch you sleeping for your stuff. I’m so sorry for his family and my prayer is with them & everyone else that’s victims of crimes like this.

  16. mr. childs says:

he wasnt shot for the shoes, it was just a simple robbery and the assailant said “might as well get the shoes”

  17. Phil says:

Rest in peace DayDay thats eryday

  18. Rodrigo Mousetraps says:

    Remember that it’s D.C. as well…

  19. 4DRUMZ says:

Yeah, as an OG SN’EAD (before retro’s if you need explanation of OG) this is ALL too familiar of the early Jordan days and Starter jackets. This is very sad!

  20. BorDoughBoy says:

As a DMV resident this sickens me. My deepest sympathy to the victim and his family. I have my mother, my co workers and a whole bunch of others now telling me not to wear my sneaks. What’s this area come to.

Nike did charity work for the Mags. Now DC needs you Nike. Do a gun buy back program with free sneakers. Can I get some support. Anyone on this site with a connect close to Nike needs to pitch this. . . .a Gun buy back with free sneakers. Let’s get this rollin. Anyone agree?

  21. Brandan E. says:

i remember back then niggas was doin this over jordans & starter jackets
its 2011 and people still doin this. it makes no sense.
i cant see how people can actually come to grips wit deciding to kill a person 1st off all then takin his shoes & coat just cause?
forget the shoes, these people made a decision to kill a person and that makes no sense man. they had no reason, its just over shoes and coat.

i dont even know what to make of this.

  22. LG says:

@BorDoughBoy, I hear ya, but Nike is to Damn greedy. They really don’t care about the consumer only their money. Yeah back in the 90′s if you had on Jordans, Starter jacket or Eddie Bauer jacket your chances of getting robbeb was high.
