Today we are proud to present our interview with the International General Manager for Jordan Brand, Gentry Humphrey. TSG caught up with Gentry “G$” Humphrey and had lunch at Landon’s in Atlanta, GA. While at Landon’s, G-Roc and G-Money discuss a number of topics about Gentry’s journey with Brand Jordan which includes Gentry’s days before Jordan Brand, how he started working for Jordan Brand, meeting Michael Jordan, his previous Brand Jordan positions, his Footwear Product Director days and Gentry also speaks on challenging moments. It was most definitely an honor to sit with Gentry and talk about his past & present days with Jordan Brand, as well as a few other interesting topics. Watch the interview and stay tuned for Part 2.

Hey, I’ve got crazy respect for Gentry, Mayden, and all the cats at JB for getting where they are in the industry. BUT… if I hear this “at the end of the day it’s a business” thing one more time. You really don’t have to look hard to see that quality of materials on retro and most GR team releases is severely lacking for the price-point of the product. So, if I’m going to (yet again) complain about that end of the business I will say this… from a business perspective… I do think the Jordan 2009 and 2010 are incredible kicks from an innovation, construction, and use of materials standpoint. Not well received because of it… but I wanted to give credit!

TSG strikes again! Great Job on snagging an interview with such an important and busy man. Definitely had some preferential treatment there for sure. I hope in part 2, G$ goes into more detail about what type of decisions he had to make between business and emotion. I think 4Drumz hit one that may have disappointed consumers, but I’m sure there were some other business/political moves JB had to do as well.

G-roc you already know I told you he was one of the coolest dudes in the game. Now you see why. Definitely one of the people I was glad to have the chance to meet and really kick it with. Good people outside of all the bullshit of the game. G-roc always I’m proud of you too man. You motivate me to only keep getting better!
Nice interview G congrats, but hopefully Gentry realizes even though hes makin more for usin crappy materials nd havin low quality, hes also losin alotta sales because of tht and some time is the sole reason ppl dont scoop, also accompanied wit some overfloodin, causes alotta J`z to sit on shelves now
