TSG Exclusive: Fat Joe Talks Kanye West, Air Jordans, Top 5 Sneakers + More
As you know, we caught up with Fat Joe and sat him down in the interrogation room to talk about sneakers. He told us about his Protege sneaker line and how everything came together. It was only right that we talked to him about various sneaker topics including Kanye West Louis Vuitton sneakers, Air Yeezy, Air Jordans, his top 5 sneakers, and we even asked him about sneakers he would never wear. Don’t let the Kmart line fool you, Joe is still loyal to Nike and Brand Jordan.

23Edge – I am not writing this to get at you but you have to do your homework before you say the things you are saying. In the interview he said JB sent him sneakers for his BDAY… I don’t know about you but I’ve been collecting for a minute and JB has never sent me a thing…That dude has some serious connects…he actually had his face etched into an AF1 like Lebron/Kobe/Rasheed and them did… That’s crazy!!!! His collection is out of control..The truth is, a lot of us sneakerheads don’t have the kind of money he has but still have heated collections. If I had his money, I would have a lot of kicks too… The guy always liked sneakers and he wasn’t always rich… It’s not like the minute he came into money he started collecting kicks….That cat from the hood like a lot of us… BIG UPS TO FAT JOE… LET’S STOP THE IGNORANT COMMENTS PLEASE..

Like I said, I don’t hate Fat Joe (I’ve been a fan of his going back to the mid 90’s) and yes I am aware of the collection he has and the connections he has at Jordan Brand. I’m a sneaker fan just as much as anyone else on this website, and wouldn’t lie in saying that Joe would give me a heart attack if I ever saw his collection (just as much as any big dog sneaker collector would). But my point is, to be so bold as to call yourself the Sneaker King, you better recognize what that entails and of who your putting down. I mean just to name a few cats that I’ve always admired (and Fat Joe is saying his collection will crush theirs’) I submit this list; Spike Lee (a guy that made films about Air Jordans when Fat Joe was still in high school; and doesn’t just get sneakers from JB for his birthday but actually gets Jordans named after him and his films); Chi McBride (Michael Jordan himself would give him game worn sneakers – sneakers that were made 100 times better than anything sold at retail); Bobbito Garcia whose book and knowledge of the history of sneakers will make any sneaker wannabe think twice before saying that they know the real history of a sneaker; and would you think it would be unfair to include in the list of sneaker collector’s Michael Jordan, a guy that since 84’ has made Nike/Jordan Brand give him multiple pairs of every sneaker made, and that even Fat Joe has confessed to begging Michael to let him see? I don’t know about you but it seems that those are some real bona fide collectors that aren’t easy to topple.

I feel you 23EDGE… Very valid points that you made but when the only people that we can come up with that may have a better collection than Joe’s is Spike Lee and MJ that just goes to show how heated that collection must be…I bet PHIL KNIGHT has a better collection, you know what I mean. This whole SNEAKER KING title can’t be taken seriously by any of these cats anyway. We all know there is someone else out there with a crazier collection. LOL..By the way, that book by BOBBITO is dope.
