The winner of the 112 Air Trainer 1 was suppose to be announced in Friday’s news, but we were awaiting DJ Clark Kent’s decision. The AF1 King read ALL the comments and picked a winner, and the winner is Justin Hall. Peep what Justin had to say after the jump…
I first started to appreciate the sneaker culture about three years ago. I frequently visit ISS and niketalk and see some collections that are only 3 weeks old and are 4-5 times as expansive as mine. I feel like I am a true collector because of the time and effort I have to put into buying sneakers. My collection (after 3 years of being completely devoted to the shoe game) consists of 12 pairs. I currently go to georgetown on a full financial scholarship and despite having an intense workload as a premed student, I work two jobs to help pay bills for my family and, if I’m feeling particularly thrifty, I throw down on a pair of general releases. I’m facing a huge dilemma: my love is sneakers and hip hop culture, but I can rarely support my passion.
When I first saw the air trainer 1’s designed by clark kent, I immediately fell in love. I’ve always loved trainers but since most of them are sbs and there arent any sb accounts in cloverdale, california (where I’m from) I could never get ahold of them. many of my friends and I worship clark kent as a DJ pioneer and icon. I began Djing as a freshman in highschool, but you can imagine what being a hip hop DJ is like in a hick town like Cloverdale where the general population only listens to classic rock. This past summer I found myself traveling 3 hours away to san francisco to DJ parties, occasionally bars, and whatever jobs I could get. Clark Kent has always been a role model for me because he came from a similarly rough background as me but still somehow found a way to make a name for himself in the hip hop culture. It would mean so much to me to be able to have (and rock) a pair of his kicks. These shoes mean more to me than just a sweet colorway–they are designed by an inspirational role model. PLEASE TSG MAKE MY WISH COME TRUE!
