Wale Rocks His Holy Grails to BET Awards
TSG readers and TSG lurkers know by now that last year I spoke to Wale about his shoe game. When I asked Wale what shoe was his holy grail, his reply was, “I want the red Diamond Turf II’s, and that’s not something you can find, it’s one of those things I know I’m never going to find, so it’s always going to be like that.”
Seek and ye shall find my brother, that’s what I should have told Wale. I’m sure he probably thought he would never find red Nike Air Diamond Turf II’s, especially in deadstock condition with the original box. However, it’s funny how things work out because I wore my red Diamond Turf 2′s to Sneaker Friends 2010, and to my surprise, the shoes ended up getting way more attention than I thought they would get.
Anyhow, after the event several people tweeted Wale informing him that I wore his holy grails to SF2010. Honestly, do you think he wanted to know, or even gave a [shut yo mouth] that I was rocking red DT II’s at SF2010? Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, he probably stayed up all night listening to Israel & New Breed while praying to Sneaker Jesus.
The following week a little birdie gave Wale the heads up about a brand spankin’ new pair of size 9 red Air DT II’s. As you can see, the rest is history. The moral of this story is never give up on finding your holy grails or whatever you call the sneaker you really want but can’t seem to locate or currently afford them.
Wipe those tears and continue reading.
As us sneaker folks say when we wear a new pair of sneakers for the very first time, those bad boys have been officially unDS’d (un-deadstock), simply meaning the shoes are being worn for the first time.
Since all the big shots and celebrity sneakerheads usually attend awards shows, Wale decided to unDS his holy grails at the 2010 BET Awards this past Sunday. Red DT II’s on the red carpet, nice! I’m sure if BET was giving out awards for best sneakers, those DT II’s would have won without a doubt.
Congrats to Wale for finally getting his grails. Deion is somewhere smiling.

DT’s are so fire…red ones are so so sooo fire…Wale has a silly dope sneaker game and he actually KNOWS the game…I hate hearing celebs say they sneakerheads and have no clue what they’re talkin’ about. His wardrobe is kinda all over the place though. Glad he got em…it seems like nobody caught the fact that these were OG’s that G-Roc put him onto…at least that’s how I read it word G-roc?
