Designer Riccardo Tisci Might Be Cooking Something Up For Air Max Day

These aren't your usual 97s.

Riccardo Tisci, the Italian fashion designer who recently left Givenchy, appears to have left his hand prints on the Nike Air Max 97.

With an RT x Nike stamp to prove it, his work has produced a sneaker best described as an Air Max 97 Mid, with a quality looking leather upper that keeps going past the model's usual dimensions.

Tinkering with beloved, classic models is always risky business, but this one, by my estimation, is a nice and subtle touch. It could be argued the extra material adds to the design, rather than diminish its best qualities.

Figures these show up around Air Max Day. No release information yet -- updates will be reported on.

A hat tip to marvelous.soles, who leaked the picture.

Too much or just right? What do you think of RT's tweak?
