First Thoughts: A Style Review of the Nike Flyknit Air Max 1
You can't wear shoes without clothes, so First Thoughts is about giving me you the best of both worlds. This column consists of an honest review of the newest hottest sneakers and some advice on how to wear them.
Today I'm working with the all-new Nike Flyknit Air Max 1 in the OG colorway which was sent over by Finish Line.
Let's get started...
The Nike Flyknit Air Max 1 runs true to your runner size. However, if you strictly wear thin no-show socks, then I would recommend even a half size down.
The uppers are really lightweight given the fact that it's 100% Flyknit. Additionally, Nike added a fused mudguard that wraps around the shoe to help maintain it's OG shape over time. Overall, it doesn't feel as snug as the Flyknit Racer and that's a good thing.
I said, "WOW," the moment I put them on. This silhouette has never been this comfortable. It's excellent. Nike's Ultra sole works really well on the Air Max 1 because it drastically decreases the weight from the bulky build without ruining the integrity of the look I'm used to. The original make is already comfortable, but the upgraded version made me fall in love with the shoe all over again.
My favorite part about the Flyknit Air Max 1 is its versatility in style. Since debuting in 1987, this shoe has successfully crossed over from performance to streetwear. Now almost 30 years later with fashion trends such as Athleisure being popular, you can pair it with tapered jeans just as well as compression leggings and sweatshorts.
Personally, I prefer both styles. Some days I like to get on my cozy boy vibe and other days I love how my jeans sit on the collar of the AM1.
Perfection! That's the only way to describe the Nike Flyknit Air Max 1. Team Swoosh knocked this design out the park because it allows me to enjoy that OG look with new technology and no funny business. I literally have zero complaints here and yes I consider myself an OG snob, ha!
