Another Year In the Books for TSG. Now What?

G-Roc

Back when I started this blog in September 2006, I had NO IDEA it would be this big and last this long.

10 years is a long time, and this September will make 11 years. WOW!

I know for a fact that a lot of the success of this site came from me being personable since day 1. I’ve always jumped in the comments and never gave off that high and mighty vibe. I’m literally one of y’all and I know people were able to pick up on that very quickly.

Over the years I’ve tried to keep it real and communicate with TSG readers because I’m human just like everyone else. I got kinda corporate around 2011 and I feel like TSG lost some of its original flare. But yeah, each year I was growing as a businessman, blogger, and person. I’ve learned a lot!

I got comfortable and stopped creating a lot of original content that people connected with. I even disappeared from writing for a while because I was burnt out and trying to figure out what’s next for TSG.

Last year was extremely frustrating for me on many levels. I was seriously thinking about throwing in the towel after 10 years. The Internet has changed A LOT since 2006. Cats aren’t begging you to put them in your Top Friends on MySpace or lusting over SB Dunks anymore. The game has changed! But to be fair, life as we know it has changed.

Where are you going with this, G-Roc?

Y’all know I’m long winded and. lol. This year I want to have fun and enjoy creating content and give TSG readers what they want. Gone are the days where I’m writing 10 sneaker news posts a day. There’s too many other blogs to check strictly for news. I’ll still cover the stuff I feel is the most important, stuff I like, and news I feel y’all care about.

I got away from the true community vibe and dope content that made TSG what it is today. I ain’t trying to brag, but TSG’s comments section has been the best for a very long time when it comes to sneaker blogs. That’s not even me being biased. Owners of other blogs and people at brands have told me that for years. It’s part of TheShoeGame.com’s culture.

I was reading comments in The Daily Photos post and I saw some feedback regarding making TDP great again. That’s fair and I totally understand. For those who remember, when I started it I only featured one photo a day. That was before Instagram, so the feature was cool because no blog was highlighting good and creative sneaker photography.

Then we changed it a bit after Instagram because you can literally look at dope photos all day on IG. I said all of that to say this: What do you want to see on TSG?

Please let me know. I guess this is a survey. I can see everyone, including me enjoys the discussion posts, but what else do you want to see on this blog?

I have some new things that I’m going to introduce that I think you will enjoy, BUT I also want to hear from you! PLEASE take a few minutes and let me know in the comments.

I want to give y’all what I think is cool and I want to give y’all what y’all want too!
