Dallas Penn's Drop 10 (What Not To Wear): June 2015
Every month I’d like to post some opinions on the shoes which have danced thru my mind’s eye. I’ll talk about some of the shoes which are being released which I hope you WON’T spend your BRed on (you see what I just did?). Hype and overzealous sneaker production are threatening to kill the very thing we all love dearly: sneakers. I know I love my sneakers and I hope you do as well. That’s why we come here to The Shoe Game after all.
INTERNETS!!! You can keep up with DP on Twitter/Instagram by following @Dallas_Penn. If you have any submissions or questions, email me at email@example.com.
Note: Dallas Penn’s Drop 10 column does not reflect the views and opinions of TheShoeGame.com.
First off, let me salute all the graduates of 2015. Y'all did what you had to do to take it to that 'nother level. I'm just thankful you came to this page to keep that upward movement consistent. Avoid the shoes on this list and you will keep hotstepping straight through the summer
Nike LeBron 12 Low 'Wolf Grey'
I just counted my LeBron 12 total and I'm at 9 pairs. There are way too many colorways and styles being released for this shoe. I'm finding this to be disrespectful at this point. The all red LeBron 12 lows are headed to outlets so if you have to be a completionist wait a few more weeks and copp these for $40.
Nike LeBron 12 Elite 'Rose Gold'
Not gonna be able to do it. The pricepoint for all the shoes in this pack is straight up prohibitive. Nike needs to chill, but just like the internets, Nike knows NO CHILL.
Nike HyperRev 2015 'Be True'
Nike will swagjack anybody's wave if it will help them sell some shoes. The rainbow colors on the outsole of these basketball shoes is being promoted as a nod to the LGBT community. Nothing wrong with that in my book but I'm pausing on this shoe due to the pricepoint and not the promotion.
Nike Chuckposite 'Court Purple'
The Charles Barkley sneaker legacy is starting to become as trashy as his political views. All the Barkley Posites wind up in clearance outlets nowadays and this colorway will be no different.
Ewing Athletics Rogue 'Hornets'
Wild disrespectful to the good saint Patrick.
Ewing Athletics 33 High 'Draft Envelope'
I'm eagerly awaiting the moment the Ewing Brand releases sneakers for all the times Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan dunked on his head. Nah, not really.
Brooks x BAIT Chariot 'Oyster'
I'm throwing this clam back in the ocean.
Nike KD7 'What The'
Doing too much with the KD7 for this release is how I will chalk it up. This has been a pretty dope shoe overall this year with a few stand out releases but this model should have just sat down and let the KD8 put up numbers on the board next month.
Asics x Ronnie Fieg + Diamond Supply Co Gel Saga
The repetition of themes must be great for branding and the fans of these three brands I'm sure are thoroughly excited. For the rest of us not living in the same room we slept in when we were in 5th grade won't be impressed enough to keep the streetwear charade going.
adidas Yeezy Boost 350
I fux with all previous KanYe West sneaker releases altho' I own no Yeezy shoes. I feel like KanYe has been creative and innovative past my expectations. I do not fux with this santa elf bootie they are calling the Yeezy Boost 350. #AllDay
