Fake Sneaker Seller From Putian, China Makes Over $100,000 A Month

There are so many things I want to say. Where do I start? Let's start with OVER a $100k a month selling fakes. Geez! Putian, China is the hub for fake sneakers, and this seller gives the world an inside look at his operation.

This is easily the most interesting and educational piece of sneaker content I've consumed in a long time. My mind is blown - not because I didn't know how much money is in counterfeiting, but mainly how good the "high quality replicas" are getting. It's scary!

Who are the real gatekeepers that determine the real from the fake nowadays? I've heard all about the people who authenticate sneakers at consignment shops and sneaker conventions, but respectfully, what qualifies them?

Did they graduate with a masters in authenticating footwear? Yeah, that's my point. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are key differences when you compare real vs fake... BUT how are you positive the real pair is the real pair?

Oh, you bought them from an authorized retailer, huh? If only that were enough. You have to be VERY naive if you don't think people have returned fakes to big chain retailers like Foot Locker, Finish Line, etc.

The employees are barely educated on product, so how are majority going to be able to tell the difference from a legit and high quality replica Yeezy Boost 350? HOW? *Kanye voice*

This is why the video blew my mind. When the seller took the host into the "rejects room" all I could do was shake my head. Counterfeiters, like the guy in the video, are laser focused on creating the absolute best quality fakes.

I'm talking about fakes that are so good you literally have to do a side-by-side comparison to spot the replica. That said, it's damn near impossible to spot fakes when a person is wearing them.

That just lets me know that a lot of people who are tired of taking Ls and jumping through hoops for a chance to cop a hyped shoe are going to start spending their money with guys like this.

I would love to hear from everyone who's reading this, so please drop a comment after you finish watching. Share your thoughts or stories below... and stay woke (if that's still possible). Ha!

You already know my thoughts on this if you were reading my often too lengthy replies from earlier this year and in 2017 whenever this topic came up. One part of me is glad Vice did this, another part of me knows it still didn't scratch the surface on a few other things. In hindsight, I'm not sure people are ready to have their confidence rocked that hard and see the most intelligent sneakerheads not have answers to sensible questions.

The danger in these videos and posts is it's not long before curiosity leads people to fakes because now they know. One of the reasons I stopped doing real vs fake videos is because of the amount of people that wanted to know where to get the fakes. A homie of mine from another sneaker site is now dealing with the same problem. People are more interested in the fakes. It's a result of a growing number of people becoming increasingly frustrated with brands and their games versus what the ignorant like to throw around in saying "if you can't afford them, buy Skechers".

Very little to do with affordability and a lot more to do with frustrations spilling over. Just frame this now:

"By 2025 almost every sneakerhead will have minimum 1 pair of fakes in their collection" - The zinger? Over 75% of them will know the shoe is fake. Over 40% of their audience won't care that it's fake.
