Introducing the Abasi Rosborough ARC Apollo Tabi
I promised a buddy of mine I would highlight this new model from Abasi Rosborough.
Everyone who visits this site for the most part is usually very vocal, so if you don’t mind, please share your honest thoughts in the comments about this shoe. Please keep it 100, this post isn’t a review or something I need to have a positive reflection. It’s a favor for a buddy, and I’m sure him and the folks at the brand will appreciate honest feedback.
As for the shoe, this is first ever Abasi Rosborough shoe design called the ARC Apollo Tabi Boot. Limited to 50 pairs and individually numbered. Each shoe comes with a custom pair of black tabi socks, 24oz cotton shoe bag, and first edition pin.
This drop released exclusively at SSENSE, Isetan in Tokyo, and IF SoHo in NYC.
Retail price is $425.
Here’s more info regarding the inspiration and details:
– Inspired by historical Japanese tabi toe, incorporating elements from an American basketball shoe, and classic British Chelsea boot
– Custom-made natural rubber outsole
– Rugged — waxed suede and cotton duck cloth canvas upper
The Japanese tabi shoe is more anatomically correct and comfortable than a western close-toed shoe — think of wearing a glove vs. a mitten. Independent toe control means more natural foot control and movement. We wanted to take this ancient Japanese design, and bring it forward to the context of New York — so we made it rugged with hard-wearing materials, Italian zippers and elastic piecing, and preserved the function — because of how the design is executed, you can play basketball or skateboard in these shoes.
