Top 5 Most Overrated Sneakers of 2016: Fear of God Vans

Yep! I had to do it. I had to say something.

This collaboration is making its way around the web as one of the best collaborations of 2016, and I can see why. Sneaker collaborations in general are extremely overrated and damn near played out. Today, great collaborations depend on how much hype or momentum a brand has at the time of the collab. That’s it! Most people will automatically call it fire or quickly say “copped.” I get it though. A lot of the excitement stems from being invested into the brand.

That’s the case for Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God brand. Dude has the juice and I’m happy to see all of the success he’s experiencing. He’s doing him and not ashamed to put his faith in God on display. That’s inspiring and amazing to see!

But I know for a fact this excitement for FOG Vans came from the success and popularity of the FOG brand, not the execution of the designs. Sure, both Vans look good. But the actual design of the collaboration wasn’t what people were geeking out about. Similar to Yeezys, people that follow FOG just wanted to be able to say, “I have FEAR OF GOD Vans.” It’s that simple!
