What Makes A Sneaker Classic?

Solid question.

We hear the word classic thrown around all the time. Whether someone is referring to an album, movie, cartoon, television show, sneaker, etc.

Sometimes I think people call something classic just because it’s old or because they have a nostalgic connection to it. But when YOU hear the word classic, what does it mean to you?

This is a question that I planned on asking someone in “Random Questions, Random Places.” And yes, I’m still going to ask someone this question.

Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks and Nadeska beat me to the punch on the entertaining daily show, Everyday Struggle. They started to debate classic albums, and Joe actually made some solid points. I have no idea what Akademiks was talking about with his trash list. lol

If you’re not familiar with the show, they debated Drake’s classic album, which most people will say is Take Care. Personally I don’t think Take Care is a classic. In fact, my cousin thinks Take Care and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late are both classics. But keep in mind he also said Drake’s music touches his soul.

But back to Budden and them. Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy also came up in the conversation. I think most people consider the album a classic, but Joe disagrees.

Without digging too deep into the Everyday Struggle convo, I’ll stop here. I included the video below so you can watch for yourself.

As for sneakers, or even albums – how do you define what’s considered to be a classic?

When talking sneakers, we all know the Chuck Taylor, Stan Smith, Superstar, Jordan 1, Jordan 3, Jordan 4, Air Max 1, Air Force 1, and Puma Suede are all classics. That’s just to name a few, by the way.

Of course, there are several others.

But what makes a sneaker CLASSIC? List your criteria and definition of a classic in the comments. Also, feel free to mention a few shoes that you consider classic.
